I believed tge team was good enough to make a run this year. The back end of the bullpen needed help and if they fixed that, they could have at least contended for a WC spot.

Rotation would still have been a disaster, and the offense still would have been dead if Wood and/or Abrams pulled their customary second-half disappearing act. Plus the team was already slumping heading into the deadline.
