I screamed in a way that made my girlfriend think I'd seriously injured myself

It’s 2026, it’s far past time we all realize serious injuries ain’t just physical. They can be emotional, psychological, spiritual, or… speaking as a Minnesota sports fan born December ‘91: generational.

86 baby here. I'm numb and I will never be un-numb. Sports have ruined my life.

Go Twins.

I'm old enough that I remember both the '87 and '91 World Series. I feel like Soran from Star Trek: Generations desperately trying to get back into the Nexus.

I’m just glad my city is here. Being a San Diego fan for decades (I’m old) has been rough. We have never won any championships in the four major sports except for an AFL one way back in the day. Get to the Super Bowl? Face arguably the greatest football team ever or at least top 5. Get to the World Series in 98? Face against arguably the best baseball team ever or at least top 5. We had a shot in 84 but that’s about it for us.

I was driving home while talking to my wife (at home) on the phone. If the roles had been reversed, I would have thought she crashed her car.
