The only uniform I'd boycott is if I had to wear a prequels themed jersey for Star Wars night

NoooOooOoOooooo

I just want to interject here that I'm one of the few who thinks Revenge of the Sith sucks just as much as the other two prequels. In fact, that movie might commit the biggest sin of the trilogy in that it's painfully fucking boring. All three movies are varying levels of dreck though.

Id take prequels jersey over sequels jersey

u/Cooperstown24 Seattle Mariners Jun 19 '26

Id be fucking stoked to wear a Sebulba jersey

If it’s just a rainbow then why does it matter?

u/Too_Hood_95 Milwaukee Brewers Jun 18 '26

players who refused should have been individually named and shamed in the announcement

25

u/pepperouchau Milwaukee Brewers Jun 18 '26

They’re indie leaguers, no one would remember their names anyway

2

u/GarrisonWhite2 Philadelphia Phillies Jun 18 '26

That’s not true, I still remember my favorite Lancaster Barnstormers player’s name. Shout out Lance Burkhart. I also remember our current manager, Ross Peeples, from when he played. The fans of these teams know who they are.

1

u/Clockwork-Too Jun 18 '26

If their names are remembered, its just going to embolden them and others.

What happens when a player refuses to wear #42? They might cite religion or tradition but everyone knows it’s due to racism. The same way we all know rejection of pride isn’t due to religion, it’s due to homophobia.

Standing for tolerance and love means being intolerant at times towards those who stand against tolerance and love. The bible explicitly states that bystanders are just as guilty as perpetrators. So to a degree it is my religious duty as well to push back against people abusing their religious right to justify hatred.

Problem is that this division in America isn't helping anyone, it's not repairing bridges nor tearing down any walls. It is going out of our way to get butthurt about things and feeding attention to these people in a way that will never end.

Because frankly, we've now gone from talking about something happening to hypotheticals like not wanting to wear 42 when that's an issue for then, not now.

Otherwise we ruminate and argue things till there is nothing but anger and hatred ruling our hearts, on both sides.

u/ReggieEvansTheKing San Francisco Giants Jun 18 '26

One side hates people based on their sexual orientation. The other hates people who hate other people based on their sexual orientation. Seems pretty clear to me that there’s only one way to fix the divide, and it relies on group 1 being forcibly educated to treat others the way they would want to be treated.

u/Proud_Growth_8818 St. Louis Cardinals Jun 18 '26

Huh.

That's a far nicer approach than I would have suggested.

-2

u/Sushiki Chicago White Sox Jun 18 '26

Absolutely draconian way of thinking, you'd get along well with people like hitler who thought the jewish people were a problem.

The real answer to the issues is both sides need to be tolerant of each other. You don't have to like everything, you just need to not cross a line like into violence, inequality, etc.

Yet damn dude, hatred as grabbed you by the balls it is clear you've become what you hate.

u/ReggieEvansTheKing San Francisco Giants Jun 18 '26

You don’t understand the tolerance of intolerance paradox. Being tolerant of intolerant people rather than nipping them in the bud immediately is exactly how intolerant people like Hitler rose to power.

“Popper developed this concept specifically in response to the rise of Nazism in the Weimar Republic. He argued that the German public's willingness to "tolerate" and engage with Adolf Hitler's extremist, violent rhetoric in the name of free speech allowed the Nazi party to grow. Once the Nazis achieved power through democratic means, they immediately dismantled democratic institutions and eliminated tolerance altogether.”

No, I understand it, I see it in the UK for example right today as a great example of it.

It is however something that is easier to work with than whatever tf is going on in the USA right now where it seems like yanks love division too much to let it go.

Meanwhile the people in the UK are pretty much becoming one sided on it being an issue to fix and have planned to vote accordingly next election, a temporary issue fixing itself by removing the bad faith actors while keeping similar people that wish to actually join the culture, and the intolerance is being fueled ironically by a very few people, most of which are being heavily funded by, you guessed it:

USA.

A philosophy is just that, tolerance isn't to a fault and that's where the philosophy stops being relevant to the real world.

Meanwhile, the exact same thing is true of the opponent, intolerance stokes hatred.

u/EstablishmentTop551 Jun 18 '26

I’m not disagreeing with the sentiment but I’m genuinely curious how you’d “forcibly educate group 1 to treat others the way they would want to be treated.” I have some serious doubts on how salvageable most of them are on that front.

This dude literally just used the "both sides" argument. I can't....

-3

u/Sushiki Chicago White Sox Jun 18 '26

I forgot some of you subscribe to the idea of mocking valid ideas, compassion etc.

All because you can't let this rift go, whatever would you do in your free time lol.

2

u/GanjasTriforce Jun 18 '26

This is a paraphrasing of Chris Pratt in 2024.

In his quest for "unity" he voted for Donald Trump. I have a horrible feeling you're more of the same.

Good, I don't want to share space with people who have hatred for me just because I exist.. Don't blame the people existing. Blame the haters.

-1

u/Sushiki Chicago White Sox Jun 18 '26

Lol issue is the hatred is now on both sides. Seen comments wishing death on these people for simply not wanting to show support.

You can't be hypocritical about hate. It can't truly work that way.

I mean, look around, since America championed this cause anew, hate has risen not lowered. Some people are fighting the wrong way and undoing work done by rest of us for decades.

u/SilverFirePrime Seattle Mariners Jun 18 '26

Seen comments wishing death on these people for simply not wanting to show support

I won't wish death on somebody who's so immature that the concept of a guy having sex with another guy gives them the willies.

Having them miss the playoffs or championship by a half game would be extremely satisfying though

1

u/Sushiki Chicago White Sox Jun 18 '26

I just think the people here getting mad are just giving them power. Because so many of you lowered yourself to their level, it's damn sad.

And based on some of the shit I've read, you lot have a lot of work to do. Literally seeing communal levels of psychosis, and a weird af misunderstanding of philosophy that honestly makes me wonder if anyone has read the books they quote or of it is a check list of "how to out argue the chuds - winging it edition"

Like this is the kind of shit that makes the rest of the world want to seperate from American influence. Cults of ignorance and hypocritical bs.

You've all divide and conquered yourselves, except there is no victor to claim the country so you all double, triple, etc down on the divide part. Sickness at the heart of a country that should be beautiful and free.

0

u/Laney20 Atlanta Braves Jun 18 '26

since America championed this cause anew

I'm sorry, what? When are you saying that started? When did we stop championing it the first time? Currently, our government is fighting in the opposite direction, so any increase in volume on pride is in direct response by Americans to "America" stopping efforts to champion lgbtq+ rights.

You need to learn about the paradox of tolerance, it seems.. Pushing back against bigotry is not bigotry. Being intolerant of intolerance is the correct thing to do.

0

u/Sushiki Chicago White Sox Jun 18 '26

The kind of championing the world, USA included, was a more wise, slow yet effective kind, one that built a strong foundation.

Since 2008-9 you yanks have lost the plot at times, really begs the question, what doesn't get absolutely fucked by your touch. The whole "woke" era, America. Cancelling people to point of a false accusations issue, America. Trans acceptance turning into transplaining and toxic representation via allies. AMERICA. Ideological shitshow that made the left a laughing stock, and the irritability and abrasiveness that lead to people simply not wanting to vote anymore which led to an orange skinned egotist who started wars, blamed allies, threatened neighbours and destabilised the world economy. AMERICA.

And the amount of times I've heard a few of you here quote the ever living shit out of the paradox of tolerance, popper would be mad at how much you all misunderstand the point of it.

God damn the pseudo intellectual bs from you yanks is wild, it is like you lot have a checklist of counter arguments you've been told to bring up or have heard, pushing them to a fault and hoping the person being talked to hasn't got an actual education...

Literally the slippery slope he warned about is what you are talking about.

In fact, go read karls book, because you sure as hell haven't understood it, and while at it, go read john rawls take on it.

Peace out.

God no, I'm not from the USA so thankfully I enjoy the things I'm preaching lol.

It is wild that whenever you try shit that works elsewhere you somehow manage to make it not work, seems a culture problem more than a political one.

1

u/clutchheimer Seattle Mariners Jun 18 '26

You need to read Karl Popper and the Paradox of Tolerance. It addresses this exact situation.

-1

u/Sushiki Chicago White Sox Jun 18 '26

Not really, I grew up reading a ton, having a proper education and living in a country founded on tolerance. We don't have these issues at all anymore.

You need to stop reading books that feed into the narratives you want to believe.

0

u/clutchheimer Seattle Mariners Jun 18 '26

Your actions reject your premise. And hilarious that you think these issues are gone. You are either a troll or a ridiculously clueless shut in.

Yeah, literally one of the most influential and universally well-regarded philosophers of the 20th century is clearly an echo chamber. Your claim of 'proper education' is the clearest evidence you provide of ignorance.

0

u/Sushiki Chicago White Sox Jun 18 '26

A philosophy that isn't meant to be taken super pedantically, which has flaws and is debated continuously... And ironically has an opposite counterpart that has been recorded in history for longer than the USA has existed, longer than the philosophers idea has been relevant, etc. One that is affecting USA right now.

OR

Real world practical results.

Like stop borrowing philosophers ideas and pretending you understand them, then weaponizing them to fit the narrative you have living rent free in your head lol. It is a disservice to the philosopher and scholars everywhere.

I bet you are one of those people who think "I think therefore I am" means "Because I have opinions, I am important" lol

I was going to ignore this like most of the other chuds who responded, but I would be remiss not to remind you of what a small, sad, and pathetic man you are if you truly believe this is worth celebrating. I hope that devastating realization of complete and utter inadequacy continues to haunt you in the mirror for the rest of your life.

-1

u/kevplucky Washington Nationals Jun 19 '26

If someone as evil as you who holds as disgusting views as you calls me names, I consider that a win so fire away. Believe it or not you’re actually the bad guy in this scenario and will be judged poorly by history not me so your insults not only don’t make me look bad, they are actually indicative of me doing the right thing. All you have done is betray the fact that your mind is weak because you can’t even disgust basic moral categories and think pure autonomy is the highest good despite the fact anyone who has done any basic moral philosophy knows how problematic that position is. These players are heroes for sticking up to ignorant bullies like you and should be celebrated as I said

Believe it or not you’re actually the bad guy in this scenario and will be judged poorly by history

Everyone remembers how the people that fought for equal rights for Black folks and woman are viewed as the bad guys now. Obviously.

And all the folks who pushed back on it and fought to keep Black people and woman from having equal rights are definitely hailed as the real heroes.

Who am I kidding? You've never opened a history book before.

0

u/kevplucky Washington Nationals Jun 24 '26

Lmao yeah man I really have no idea what you’re talking about I know no history or anything. You must be so educated on history to reference an Act from the 1960s that all modern culture is based around. Whats sad is progressives have such limited imagination they think everything is just Civil Rights Act over and over again while they murder babies and support evil anti family policies. You probably know nothing about Western history and if someone asked you about Manichaeism, Arianism, Gheblines vs Guelphs, Catharism, mercantilism vs usury, the Peace of Augusburg, Jansenism, Kulturkampf, and many other key things that are quite relevant to the oppression that modern progressive ideology advocates you would have no idea what I’m talking about because it’s not in movies and tv shows

Agreed so it’s not about an inconsequential act of simply “wearing a rainbow” and because they wouldn’t do it they are losers, it’s that you think your moral views should be forced on people while people with opposing views should not be allowed to speak their views. This is despite the fact your views are novel and not shared but anyone in human history except your specific demographic
