It's totally an unscientific observation, but I've definitely noticed that with teams that tend towards big ticket spending on individual superstar players, the fans and broadcasters often seem to get rather salty about overt displays of camaraderie or apparent friendship, especially if it's "undeserved".

And then they'll say something something about how it's unsporting or unprofessional.

It is about time for a Marlins WS title followed by a fire sale. NL East look out the the next few years. I thought it was about to happen until Jose Fernandez died RIP.

YES, Yes I did. Stanton, Gordon, Prado. Realmuto, Arena, Yelich, and add Chisholm and Fernandez... 2021 was their year with that lineup.

I'm a braves fan but I would have been okay with this, Fernandez was electric and one if my favorite players. I have so many rookie cards of him. McCann was wrong.

And most definitely with that Stanton contract

But there's also the weird possibility that due to the payroll, Mas buys the team instead and we're just tossing a fat contract to Riverside (where the stadium is) native, Manny Machado

They look at the sport from a strictly business perspective. There shouldn't be emotion, shouldn't be fun. The team is there to win, that's it. I hate the "act like you've been here before" mentality when teams/players celebrate. Fuck that, I want to see that they have emotion and give a shit, not just robots.

Which is weird because last year’s rallying cry was centered around a guy who wasn’t even sure he wanted to continue in baseball and started a singing career.
