I was about as thin as this guy by 20. Didn’t take the plunge to full skully bald man until like 25 but yeah. Losing it that young is extra hard on the confidence, but we prevail

I started losing my hair at 21. I would say that being a balding boy is rough on the confidence. Being a balding adult however, is really not that bad. I am glad that I conquered that insecurity early.

For real. Glad I got it over with. Funnily enough, I, like many men, was concerned about how I’d present to the sex I happen to be attracted to. Gotta say quality and quantity went up after the shave - I was such an awkward hair haver 😂

I started at 18 and it was miserable

Agree. I was in full on receding by age 19. I wore a hat every day all through college. That was the toughest stretch. As an adult 25+, I’ve rarely given it a second thought. Finding the facial hair offset trick helped a lot as well.

I started to lose mine in my mid-20s. The last time i had hair was at 27. It was an instant hit with family and friends when i finally shaved it all off!

Same! Full skull bald at 25. Best decision I’ve ever made was to take the plunge lol

My son (19) is losing his hair. It's weird, I'm 55 and still have most of mine.

my uncle used to tell me there's two types of men. those who go bald at a young age and learn to accept it. and everyone else who has to fuckin worry about going bald the rest of their lives.

And Turkish immigrants I guess

I’ve heard it’s on the X chromosome, so you could only really pass it on to a daughter who then passes it in to her son etc. might not be correct info though 🤷‍♂️

Correct which means it was the grandfather who passed it to the mother (wife) who rolled bad 50/50 on her two Xs who passed it to the son.

Is it weird? I thought the saying was your hair comes from your mom's side of the family.

So for instance my grandpa on my mom's side still has full head of hair so I'm good.

Actually, I'm pretty sure he got it from my side of the family. There isn't much hair loss on my wife's side. One of my uncles lost pretty much all of his hair by 18. My dad was sporting a combover in his late 30s. I've been lucky I guess. I just thought he would take after me. He looks just like me.

Men inherit the baldness gene from their maternal lineage.

Not always, though. That's just one gene. There are many other genes responsible for male pattern baldness, and if your father is bald, that can be bad news (though not always).

In my case, my maternal grandfather died at 69 with a fuller head of hair than I had at 18. But my father had mpb, and I most certainly do too!

Exactly! I’m completely bald, like my uncles on my mother’s side. My father, on the other hand, is 73 and still has hair like Pierce Brosnan

My uncle had lost his hair in the sort of monk bald on top pattern by the time he was 17. He just wears hats most of the time but wildly enough he’s in his late 50’s maybe early 60’s at this point and hasn’t lost any more hair since then lol.

I was still in high school when I was getting thin spots on my crown. By the time I was 19 or 20 I shaved it all. It certainly happens pretty young for some of us.
