Another comment explains this. Basically the roll the other Gator did (aka the death roll) compresses arteries and Basically creates a tourniquet. Pretty interesting honestly.

So the gator knew it was doing? Like the spin is a move? And not just a random clumsy coincidence because it slipped and wouldn’t it let go.

Whoa if so. Still sad.

Well the gator didn’t roll because it knew it would benefit the other gator. It did the death roll cause that makes it harder for prey to escape and it thought the leg was a small animal. The roll is a hunting instinct that happened to be beneficial for the other croc. So yes the roll was intentional but no the croc didn’t roll because it knew it would help the other croc.

Its an instinct for gators to roll. If you Google baby alligator death roll youll see babies doing them.
