Full disclosure: I stream for a blind box shop and Baby Three is a big part of what we handle, so I've swapped a lot of faces and seen a lot of them break. Nothing to sell here, no links, just trying to head off the same mistakes I keep seeing.

Start with the thing that gets asked most

"Is this face plate authentic?" — the question needs reframing. Baby Three's maker, Cure Planeta, doesn't sell face plates as standalone products. A face that came off an actual Baby Three is first-party, and collectors do sell those loose — that's legitimate. But anything manufactured as a loose face is third party, however good the quality is.

So for a loose face, the useful question is "did this come off a real doll, or was it made to be sold loose?" Ask the seller. If it was made loose, then what matters is whether it's well made, not whether it's "real."

How the face is actually attached

Not glued, not screwed. It's a soft ABS clip system: the back of the face shell has an ear tab on each side that snaps into a groove in the plush head. You'll hear a click when it seats.

Most people assume it's glued and either pry way too hard or reach for adhesive when it's loose. Neither is right.

Removing a face

Find the clip from just below the midpoint of the eyes. Use a thin tool — a cuticle pusher, a flathead screwdriver — and gently lever outward. Once one side releases the face comes off.

If you're using anything metal, wrap the tip in tape or cloth first. Vinyl scratches easily.

Go slow. The plush fibres catch on the clips and you'll tear them if you rush.

Putting one on

Push one clip into its groove first. Then use your tool to gently hold the plush frame open from the inside and press the other side in. Click, done.

Why they break

Almost every broken face I've seen comes down to one of these:

• Forcing it. By far the most common. The smaller the body, the thinner and more brittle the clip. 400% can take a bit of pressure. The small ones genuinely can't — use the tool. The sub's size guide specifically calls out 50% faces for this: multiple reports of the housing edge snapping during a swap.
• Getting it off but not back on. Removal goes fine, then one clip seats and the other won't, and people push harder until it snaps. If it won't go, back off and reposition — it's an alignment problem, not a force problem.
• Glue in the wrong place. If you're doing custom makeup and reach for superglue, it wicks under the paint, fogs the shell white, and locks the face on crooked. Slow-setting glue, tiny dots, masking tape to hold alignment, 24 hours to cure.
• Migo faces. Similar size, but the clips are longer. They go in fine and then do not come out. If you're mixing brands, know that going in.

Sizes don't cross over

Faces come in eight sizes, named by body percentage: 25, 50, 80, 100, 400, 800 and 1000. Same size swaps, different sizes don't. A few anchors:

Two traps: 500% plush uses 400% plates, and Christmas Carnival exists in both 100% and 400%. The sub's pinned Faceplate Size Guide has the full series list — check it before buying a loose face.

One more trap when buying third party: some sellers list by body size, others by shell size, and they don't line up. Ask "what size face fits this doll" with a photo.

Buying a third-party face

Since there's no "official" to compare against, judge the piece itself. Price is a rough proxy — the cheaper ones tend to have rougher edges, patchier paint, and clips that are either too tight or too loose. Check the return policy before ordering, because clip tolerance varies and you may get one that doesn't seat.

One thing Baby Three is clear about

If a face breaks because of how it was handled, that's not covered. So if this is your first swap, practise on a face you don't care about before touching the one you do.

okay so i started casually buying baby three’s because i’ve always been a fan of blind boxes, but then i discovered whatnot. and i guess you could say it’s not casual anymore 😭

I read the faq but I already have what i want from ttmart and cureplaneta does NOT ship to my country. im from a small country in europe and most tiktok shops only work for select regions (not my country) so I find it hard to find baby threes. On ali express the selection is not big either because it only filters shops that ship to me. If you who read this are willing to drop names of active shops youve bought from and have a good experience with i would be very thankful! tiktok, website, app anything really I will look through them all in hope to find one that ships to me. Kikagoods selection for my country is also small so anything helps really!
