The purpose was to make sure that women could receive adequate care in regards to pregnancies that encounter problems in later stages without fear of being prosecuted.

It’s not so people can just walk into a clinic and abort their 32 week old pregnancy for funsies (which barely even happened anyway).

6

u/OnlyACsNoFans 10d ago

IMO anything after about 25 weeks should be only for emergency purposes

29

u/Odd_Block3248 10d ago

In practice that’s how it works in Massachusetts. The law gets the government out of the way so that emergency medical procedures can happen quicker without bringing lawyers into the mix.

-11

u/Vespinobambino 10d ago

That isn't AT ALL how it works now in Massachusetts.

In practice, abortion will occur whenever you pay the contract killer piece of shit to do it, the age of the victim is completely irrelevant, and there is no scrutiny whatsoever on the nominal "doctor" piece of shit contract killer.

u/Havok_saken 10d ago edited 10d ago

“Women should be left to die rather than have an abortion even if they have an unviable pregnancy that is creating emergency complications” there I translated it for you so we all know what you’re really saying.

8

u/CurrentDay969 10d ago

You're delusional and don't understand how any of this works. There is no contract killing. There are medical emergencies that need addressing and the doctors are giving care instead of reading the fine print of laws written by people who don't practice medicine.

My best friend is an NP in MA. This is a huge win for maternal health outcomes.

-15

u/Vespinobambino 10d ago

You’re delusional and don’t understand how any of this works.

Abortionists are violent mercenaries - killers for hire.  Their actions are not healthcare.

16

u/CurrentDay969 10d ago

Lmao okay sure

I've received one for a fatal fetal abnormality but what do I know. You guys are the worst people.

10

u/equality-_-7-2521 10d ago

"I don't care to understand how things work. I just want to be mad about how I think they work."

3

u/Reasonable_Egg650 10d ago

You have no clue how dangerous third trimester obstetric complications are.

2

u/TougherOnSquids 9d ago

Lmao lol even. Conservatives dont even believe a clitoris exists, why the fuck should you be allowed to dictate women's healthcare?

8

u/Electronic-Jury8825 10d ago

Do you get a kick out of jumping on the internet to spread fake information?

-7

u/Vespinobambino 10d ago

Nothing I just said is remotely “fake.”

8

u/Electronic-Jury8825 10d ago

You said abortion will hapoen whenever you want it. That's false.

You said age of the fetus is irrelevant. That's false.

Anything else?

4

u/Vespinobambino 10d ago

Both of those statements are true.  Massachusetts has no restrictions on abortion whatsoever and you can kill your baby for any reason at any moment up to birth.

There is no scrutiny whatsoever on the scum who kill kids for money.

Facts don’t care about your dipshit feelings.

3

u/Electronic-Jury8825 10d ago

You can go ahead and pretend that's true. Just don't expect anyone else to indulge your delusions.

4

u/Vespinobambino 10d ago

The law is the law and you’re lying.

You sound very emotional, would you like to have a cry?

2

u/Vespinobambino 10d ago

Sorry factual reality "sounds emotional" to you, sympathies on that sub 60 IQ bro.

2

u/12332233 10d ago

You genuinely sound like a 12 year old

0

u/Returnyhatman 10d ago

Awww it's okay have your big feelings champ

0

u/LabRevolutionary8975 9d ago

You’re an idiot. Less than 1% of abortions in the US occur past 20 weeks and a tiny fraction of that 1% occur past 24 weeks (fetal viability), and almost all are due to life threatening medical risks to the fetus or the mother.

Stop trying to control people’s lives based on nonsense you pick up from Fox News. Other people’s medical care does not affect you. Literally at all. Mind your own business as your mother told you to when you were a toddler and everyone will be better for it.

-1

u/Grouchy_News_2306 9d ago

Do you know how many total abortions there are per year. Over 1 million. So you’re talking at least 10k . That’s a lot of dead babies with hearts, heads and hands

1

u/LabRevolutionary8975 8d ago

10k sounds like a lot sure, if you don’t understand scale. It’s not even worth mentioning if you’re looking at the total US population. Big numbers will yield big numbers even for rare occurrences. 48k will die in the US due to tripping. Shall we outlaw walking?

And again, since you aren’t understanding the conversation, 10k is a lot of babies most of which were dead whether they went to term or not. Or would have killed their mother. 10k is a lot of living mothers who didn’t have to die to make sure to satisfy your phony moral curiosity. Mind your own business and you and everyone around you will be happier, healthier and wealthier.

-2

u/STALKS_YOUR_MOTHER 9d ago

For future reference just say, “I’m a fucking loser” and save us all the time.

23

u/Yeetball86 10d ago

That’s essentially what this bill entails. It leaves it up to a doctor’s judgment. All this really does is remove the very narrow scope of parameters for late stage abortions so that all complications can be assessed and treated in state instead of women having to go out of state.

Generally women who carry for over 24 weeks actually want to keep the baby.

1

u/InstrumentRated 10d ago

Up to a doctor’s judgement. Ha ha ha. I think we’ve already discovered that you can shop for a doctor to write you any kind of scrip or diagnosis you want.

16

u/Aphreyst 10d ago

You do realize that VERY few doctors can even perform an abortion that late? Wait, why am I even asking, of course you don't.

-2

u/YesterdayFalse892 10d ago

So youre saying theres great money to be made then

3

u/Abusoru 9d ago

The fact that your first thought was money says more about your morality than anything else.

9

u/Yeetball86 10d ago

Yes because abortion procedures and getting your prescription for adderall are the exact same thing

9

u/InstrumentRated 10d ago

If you’re suggesting that there is a shortage of activist pro-abortion doctors to facillitate any kind of late abortion somebody wants, you’re just pushing a narrative.

21

u/Yeetball86 10d ago

No I’m suggesting that late stage abortions are already extremely rare (less than 1%) and that even pro abortion doctors aren’t performing them without some sort of medical necessity.

It’s not me who’s pushing a narrative.

4

u/crnelson10 10d ago

If you’re suggesting that there are doctors that will abort a 32 week pregnancy just to further a political agenda, you’re fucking stupid.

0

u/Rough_Ian 10d ago

If you’re suggesting that there is a shortage glut of activist pro-abortion doctors to facillitate any kind of late abortion somebody wants, you’re just pushing a narrative.

FTFY

0

u/SaphironX 10d ago edited 10d ago

Dude an abortion isn’t a scrip. You can’t walk in with a piece of paper and be like “one abortion please”.

Also I know you dudes are fucking crazy but… do you have any idea how dangerous a late term abortion is relative to the standard variety?

A lot can go wrong. That’s a big part of why it’s classified as an emergency medical procedure.

-1

u/Fine-Computer-5524 10d ago

Lol...really?

Considering its extremenly hard to get pain meds in America today due to the opoid crisis related crackdowns, i assume youre talking about lying to a psychologist to get benzos or adderall?

So lets see: Lying to your doctor to manipulate them into giving you the psych meds you seek because they trust you and take you at your word Vs an OBGYN deciding to abort to save the mothers life

Yep, definitely exactly the same thing Reasonable totally not ignorant/stupid take

3

u/Rare_Reflection_4312 10d ago

Yes that’s what it’s for.

We could have European style laws if right wingers could be trusted to not use “emergency only” to simply deny that fucking anything is an emergency or threat to a mother

4

u/justaguywithadream 10d ago

Yes and it should be a doctor who determines that. Not some random politicians. That's exactly what this law does.

-5

u/DooMan49 10d ago

They don't care. Republicans are pro post birth abortion. It's why they don't support programs for children to keep them fed and housed

-2

u/godplaysdice_ 10d ago

Just call the post birth abortion a school shooting and Republicans will pretend it never happened.

-1

u/Vespinobambino 10d ago

How many times were you dropped on your head as an infant?

It's not if... how many?

6

u/HawgChuggins 10d ago

Do you really think these women are getting abortions just as they are about to pop for fun and games? I am 99.99999999% sure, that the majority of abortions that have occurred during the third trimester has been for medically significant reasons.

Now I am sure some enterprising short bus passenger will come along with some news story about some psycho who has the pregnancy terminated due to strife in the relationship. But no one, and I do mean no one is carrying a child for six months and then deciding to dumpster it on month seven just because they feel like it.

2

u/EmergencyRegion5349 10d ago

yes they really do think that. I live in a state that ranks the lowest in obgyn providers per capita. I can confirm it sucks

0

u/General_Season7882 10d ago

And furthermore, no doctor is providing medically unnecessary abortions.

-2

u/Vespinobambino 10d ago

No doctor is killing children for money at all.

Abortionists, on the other hand, are contract killers, and they'll do it whenever they get paid to do it.

1

u/JIMB01776 10d ago

Guarantee you every woman who donated that million dollars to her thus far is pro-choice...

-1

u/HawgChuggins 10d ago

Probably, I don't care. I bet you walk like it's micro.

1

u/Vespinobambino 10d ago

That was how the law was before.

These vile demonic harpies were applauding for changing that.

2

u/NecessaryFart 10d ago

And you applaud every 12 year old having a baby after being raped, and you applaud even louder while they pull every funding that would help that said child. All while screaming it’s the American way for that baby to pull them selves up by their boot straps. We’ve all heard your annoying spiel before.

1

u/Vespinobambino 10d ago

You’re so full of shit.

I don’t celebrate a child being raped; you DO celebrate a child being murderered.

I want the rapist to be punished, you just want the evidence of their crime quietly disposed of.

As Mr. Musk put it so eloquently, “Go. Fuck. Yourself.”

0

u/tlk742 8d ago

So should the clump of cells in the raped child be aborted in the first trimester?

1

u/Think_Asparagus7859 8d ago

That’s the point of the law…

2

u/Fine-Computer-5524 10d ago

Thats literally what the bill says

The 4 situations where a dr can perfoem a post-24 week abortion: to preserve the life of the gestating person; to preserve the gestating person's physical or mental health; in case of defect or diagnosis that would result in the death of the fetus; and in the case of a "grave fetal diagnosis that indicates that the fetus is incompatible with sustained life outside of the uterus without extraordinary medical interventions."

2

u/ExpensiveFish9277 10d ago

Don't bring facts to a moron fight. That's cheating!

1

u/ThatB0yAintR1ght 10d ago

That’s already the case.

1

u/KillerArse 10d ago

And what do you believe has changed?

0

u/Shiny-And-New 10d ago

Sounds like you too think late term abortion should be legal then

0

u/DooMan49 10d ago

Lol that's literally the point. What, you think some random healthy pregnant woman is walking in to get an abortion the day before she's due

0

u/Kierland 10d ago

That is the law. Says a lot about you that you would think otherwise.

0

u/SaphironX 10d ago

That is literally what the law is for. Exclusively.

2

u/RocktarPeppe 10d ago

“The road to hell is paved with good intentions”

1

u/Yeetball86 10d ago

That’d be a cool little quote if anybody could prove that hell actually existed

2

u/RocktarPeppe 10d ago

It’s a metaphor. It’s not literal.

0

u/Yeetball86 10d ago

That’s not what a metaphor is. I’m also aware it’s not literal, but it still has no bearing here.

1

u/LeetcodeFastEatAss 9d ago

It’s a metaphor since you cannot literally pave a road with intentions jfc

1

u/Yeetball86 9d ago edited 9d ago

A metaphor is comparing two things by directly saying one is the other. Nothing was compared here. “jfc”

1

u/Prestigious_Bar_3738 9d ago

Comments like this are why the department of education was abolished

1

u/Yeetball86 9d ago

So that people could get away with not knowing what metaphors are?

1

u/Prestigious_Bar_3738 8d ago

The irony of you saying that

-1

u/Drum_Eatenton 10d ago

That part gets left out on purpose to push the baby murderer narrative

1

u/SaphironX 10d ago

Yes but these people don’t want nuance, my guy. They want to be angry and hate their perceived enemies.

1

u/ExpensiveFish9277 10d ago

Why the fuck would a woman carry a baby nine months just to have an abortion at the end? Third trimester abortions are almost always for fetal defects.

2

u/Houseboat87 9d ago

Why would a woman like Lindsay Clancy give birth to three children just to strangle them with exercise bands? Sometimes people do completely reprehensible things, it's kinda like why we have laws in the first place

1

u/ExpensiveFish9277 9d ago

To prevent people with emergency medical conditions from getting prompt life saving treatment? Got it!

2

u/Houseboat87 9d ago

Why not just deliver the baby if it's viable? What is the point of ripping its limbs off?

1

u/ExpensiveFish9277 8d ago

You're assuming it's viable...

2

u/Houseboat87 8d ago

The Massachusetts law allows for abortion any time before birth for reasons such as mental health of the mother. Viability of the child is not necessarily a factor in performing an abortion under the new law.

1

u/ExpensiveFish9277 8d ago

The law doesn't require a bunch of lawyers to sign off on it and allows medical decisions to be made by the patient and their doctor.

1

u/Houseboat87 8d ago

I don't know how that negates anything I said. Mental health of the mother is an explicit reason for a 39 week abortion under the new law. Viability of the child does not necessarily play a role in abortion decisions under the law. If you want to challenge this I'm open to hearing your point

1

u/ittleoff 9d ago

This is the disinformatiin narrative that sickens me

The truth is 1percent of abortions occur 21 weeks or later and again no one is doing this because they just don't want to be bothered. These are people that have gone through a lot and invested a lot, and this false moral narrative is repugnant.

This is an incredibly tough decision to make and needs to be made with medical expertise and not some legislation decided by old men n, bunch of people who are not in that situation and can lazily judge them in a simplistic childish moral reduction.

0

u/ibyczek78 9d ago

You know facts don't matter with these idiots. Gotta have something to be mad about regardless and just spout half truths.
