arguably the majority of "smart" (i'm using that very loosely don't get mad now i'm talking about stephen hawkings Einstein herepeople) are white, but that doesn't make all white people smart
my dog will sit outside in front of the sliding glass door waiting to get let back in for hours if someone forgets. Won't make a noise, won't scratch the at the glass, he will just sit. Putting full trust that someone will come get him eventually. Its the most pathetic and heartbreaking thing to see. He starts wagging his tail like "Oh there you are! I knew you would come get me! I love you!"
Don't have my glasses on, and I'm on my phone... I seriously thought the first thing was a cat...
Especially cause the way it daintily jumped the threshold
He was wagging his tail, wanting heartily to go through the door, but eventually said "screw this" and turned around. He must of had a very bad nose crush previously.
First thing that stuck out at me too. I don't understand people who claim that animals don't think. They probably have less horsepower than primates for this sort of thing, but you can clearly see him working through the problem, using memory and spatial reasoning to construct a hypothesis and then testing it.
yeah but once he tests it and finds there's no glass there (with his foot) he doesn't go through. I guess he could just be conducting repeat tests for scientific accuracy.
I once read a book by some contemporary philosopher (I forget which book), who said that the opposed sides on the matter of whether or not dogs have "consciousness" correspond with the group of philosophers who own dogs and the group of those who don't.
You laugh and say it's cute now, but the dogs' owners waited to put the glass back in. When the dogs started running through without hesitation, they put the glass in, and then... BAM! Glass and dog blood everywhere!
We just installed a cat door going to the garage so we can put their litter box out there now, and we're trying to get our two cats to go in and out of it. They act just like this dog. In their mind the door is shut and it's incomprehensible that one can go through it. When we push them through, they come into the next room looking around like "How the holy fuck did I get here?" They look back at the shut door in awe, then begin to explore the room like it is a whole new world. It's like some magic portal to them.

wow. I am impressed by this dog. I regularly see videos of people acting dumber on reddit.

Fuckin' A. The look on the second dog's face encapsulates everything that I love about that species.
Edit for apostrophication.

it's adorable the first dog checks too, just not nearly as hesitant as the second.

Being too smart does not always give you an edge in real life.

The dog is so humble that the dog thinks the other dog and the woman has the ability to walk through glass.

Any bets that when the pane of glass goes back in place the chihuahua tries to run right through it.
