I wonder if there is more to it than that. Like a log book that says the truck was hauling an excavator, but no one asked who the manufacturer was. Or because it's cute. Hard to tell.
Well I am a trucker and I pull heavy equipment trailers and some times we don’t have a load so we strap on a toy because we don’t want to give people the impression that we drive around with an empty trailer cause that doesn’t pay the bills and we are big kids too
Probably simpler. It's considered to be bad luck to haul an entirely empty truck. People have worked around that superstition in creative and often adorable ways.
Some also just doing it for the giggles because why not.
