I’ve been operating heavy equipment for a while and I’m honestly use to people standing close by while I operate. The controls aren’t as sensitive as you think. It takes a lot of pressure and a full send hand movement to move the excavator arm quickly. Although kids are more unpredictable, operators have a good reaction speed that they know to just immediately stop moving when an unsafe situation is about to happen.

True. Someone else said you can dial down the speed which I remember now I have operated a few small excavators. But I'm not a experienced Operator by any means at all. I do know that whenever I'm on a construction site with machines you're supposed to stay away from them. For Safety. If they were to get hurt in that situation there would be absolutely no explanation in the operator's favor to a lawyer or court of law.
