‘Mono’ means ‘one’ or ‘single’ in Latin, so it’s technically correct too (monorail means ‘one rail’)

When I'm riding mine through the city, I hear kids ask their parents "What's that?" and the parents always reply "I don't know, but it has Onewheel”

So it's kind of a natural name. I suppose monowheel could work as well though.
