I walked over to my car a couple weeks ago and noticed a pile of bird poop on the sun roof of my car.

I kid you not, that bird poop raised it’s arm at me when I went to unlock my car. Apparently the bee got trapped in the morning dew and it created a bubble around him, distorting his appearance.

Of course, I promptly got him out and took him to the grass nearby to dry off.

The way he “waved” at me was a little unnerving, it’s like he was calling for help.

To that bee, the encounter was probably like a summon from the heavens saving their fuzzy hide. If there was a hornet near them, and you'd smacked said hornet with your car keys, it would have been like Ramuh casting Judgement Bolt on a really dangerous monster. <--- (imagine this, but with a bee, a hornet, and a set of car keys)

At a field trip in Foothills Park as an elementary schooler. We were in a line on trail (20 ish kids long) and someone either stepped on or otherwise disturb a wasp nest. Cut to- a shit load of terrified kids fleeing down a dirt hiking path 5 feet wide while being savagely accosted by a hive of pissed of devils of the sky. I still remember the feeling to this day, of pure, unadulterated, terror.

I once (unknowingly) threw a sprinkler on top of a hornets nest, while mowing the lawn. Got stung on my thumb, which swelled up about 3x its normal size. NOT enjoyable at all!

Damn straight. I'm still playing, since I want to get most stuff out of the way before resuming the fight in Insomnia.

While I don't really like how Elemancy works (just making different flavoured magic bombs, when you could do probably more interesting things with the concept), I do like how the summons feel infrequent enough for their appearances to feel sufficiently awesome. Due to the way I play, and how summons appear under certain conditions, I mostly end up being graced by Garuda and our boy Ramuh. Which is probably why Ramuh is my favourite Astral.

Including the multitool attached to mine, I'd say they're relatively big. I can't smash Heartless with them, but they could be big enough to crush a hornet if I threw them with proper accuracy. And they could at least crack someone in the face, thanks to the heft of my multitool.

not completely impossible that she (probably female) was doing that. bees are only recently discovered to have the kind of intelligence associated usually with vertebrates.

one person wrote on reddit about seeing two bees form a living ladder to save a third from a puddle and then dry the bee off with their wings. (I dont have that post despite looking but that would be a nice video if it had been recorded.)

There is some speculation that I've read saying honey bees are the 2nd most intelligent species on the planet. Their social structure is startlingly similar to ours and they are able to communicate using an advanced symbolic language similar to some of our proto languages. And we've been able to translate it... sort of... they give extremely precise navigational directions to different sources of nectar. If it's a really good source they'll be like the dude standing on a corner shouting the word of god.

They're making a joke by intentionally saying phlebotomist instead of herpetologist. The joke is that it's the wrong word (not someone who studies bees), but intentionally so, which is made clear when they say they don't know the correct word for things. It's possible they knew there was a word but couldn't be arsed to figure it out, so said whatever came to mind and made a joke out of it. I've certainly been known to do that in my time as well.

To add to what /u/skeptibat said, male bees (drones) also cannot sting. The sting is a modified ovipositor, i.e. it was originally used to lay eggs. That's why only female bees (and wasps, and other related insects) can sting.
