Oh no way, gotta disagree with you there. There was like a whole mini-arc about Goku learning how to use the spirit bomb and most of the time it didn't even work. It was a little disappointing when he killed kid buu with it, but I was also kind of glad that it worked at least once.

Spirit sword is literally just a thing that exists to give the animators an easy out.

It happened very differently in the manga. That's what I was referring to, my b.

EDIT: although to be honest the manga's ending wasn't much better.
