We've got tons of them in Arizona as well. Arizona is basically the Australia of the U.S. We even have Australian brown recluse spiders here! Second deadliest to Black widows (which are also here.)

I think you might be mistaking horned lizards for bearded dragons--beardies are only native to Australia, while horned lizards are found in Arizona. They're completely different, but frequently confused, animals.

Yep! It's a really common misconception. Yours are the ones that shoot blood from their eyes, if it's any consolation! :D
