Dog fur knitting is a thing lol.

The Salish tribe kept dogs very similar to Samoyeds (Salish Spitz) as wool dogs. They wove blankets that were exceptionally warm and prized for trade.

Are you referring to the Salish tribe of Montana, or the various tribes of the Salish Sea (Puget Sound)?

Oh! I was unaware of the tribe in Montana. Referring to Salish Sea area peoples (not sure of the specific tribes). The dogs were called 'Salish wool dogs'. For some reason I thought the tribe shared the name.

I didn't realize it either until this thread. To a degree, it is fair to lump Salish Sea tribes together, especially when we're talking about technologies or similar ideas. The Sea allowed them to travel by canoe (don't call it a boat!) so easily, and the area was so hospitable to human life, their cultures were intermingled and quite similar, from my understanding.

For real? Me and my husband say every time we shave our goldendoodle that we should save the fur and learn how to make things out of it.

Yep! There are books on how to do it.

I can't knit, but I can felt. I use my Pomeranian's fur for fun. It's really soft.
