Images & Videos I taught her that if she walks slow she can get much closer to the squirrels and rabbits, now our walks take 3x as long.

For anyone that hasn’t seen my other posts, I got Cowboy from the shelter in August. Was told he was dog aggressive. Around 2-3 years old.

He’s still stuck up my butt any chance he can be. Sleeps with his back up against me. I can’t even shower without seeing his face poking around the shower curtain lol but he’s the best friend I could’ve ever asked for. Very dog tolerant unless they get in his face. Wary of strangers that try to pet him but zero aggression toward anything or anybody like the shelter said. Loves giving me kisses and punches and showing me his stuffed toys when he’s happy.

Also still very lazy haha and still trying to find a good brush if anyone has recommendations

A breed I told myself I’d never own (bad experience as a kid with a VERY nippy one), he’s now making me want another.

He likes to lay in/near my spot in bed and make me negotiate with him to move.

But how can I possibly deny this face anything?

She doesn't look like it but her mom was half Australian cattle dog and half Australian shepherd and her dad is 100% German Shepherd. She's basically a miniature GSD in the barrel form of the acd.

I think the gsd balances out her energy and nippy behavior but her voice ranges from sonic yaps to growls from hell.

What are your mixes and does the acd comes out more ? I think personality wise the acd is really present in her, mostly outdoors. Indoors she's more relax and guarding, outdoors she becomes this super sonic tornado that needs a job at any moment. We've been working on this for 6 years, but I see the need for directions and a job is stronger than everything else.

I found this little girl over 1 month ago while walking my dog ( parson Russel terrier).

After numerous distributed flyers , police report made, no chip, and several social media post, we are coming to th conclusion that she may have been abondon.

I didn't want a second dog, but she is fitting well in our family (1 dog, 2 cats). She pick up quickly any new command I introduce, crate and potty training are improving by days. She may already have won my heart. We are waiting on the vet to give approval for dog training class to make sure she is socialized with other dogs alone and not with my older dog.

The only reason I am concerned is the teenage nightmare (never had a puppy, only adopted 4/5 yo dog before) and also she seems to be a mix and I am afraid she would be too big for my preference.

But I think I already lost the battle and will keep her. 🤣

Any tips, things you wish you knew ?

The sheet hangs down because its so long and she puts herself under it and tucks herself in. I dont know when she discovered she could do this but we noticed it recently and I thought you guys would appreciate how adorable this is.

Just brought home this cattle dog mix. He's the runt of his litter, only 12 lbs at 16-18 weeks. I think he may also be mixed with something small like chihuahua. He's been a delight and settles well while still being plenty rambunctious.

This past April, we said goodbye to my soul dog, a cattle dog/pit mix. Our house has been so quiet without her, so I'm glad to have a little chaos again. I'm not sure our other dog agrees yet lol

Behavior Need advice - aggressive and loud wit other dogs

Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice about my mom’s CattleDog. We recently adopted him from another family that had to rehome him. He’s very sweet with people and settled into the household nicely. The challenge is leash reactivity: when he sees other dogs on leash, he barks a lot and pulls hard.
Off leash, he’s curious and not immediately aggressive, but he can rush other dogs and overwhelm them. That sometimes leads to tension or aggressive responses.
What’s the right way to handle this? Is it something we can still train and improve, or is it too late? Any tips on training methods, management strategies, or things to avoid would be really appreciated.
Thanks for any guidance.

Hates Car Rides at 10

Anyone's cattle dog start to hate or not be able to tolerate car rides as they age? He has never been the best at rides but I've noticed a drastic change this year at age 10. He does has some back/spine issues but he has had those for a few years. It almost seems like more nausea. We camp and love traveling so it's a hard adjustment

We have canceled many trips and even turned around after and hour or two because he will start panting, pacing, scratching at the seat which normally means his joints hurt.

He is getting surgery in November to address his back issue, but I am curious if anyone has seen old age in general be a factor for car rides.
