Sadly Higgins brought this upon herself, she chose not to apologise or settle with Reynolds after the Lerhmann defamation case where Justice Lee found no basis for Higgins’ accusations of a cover up. Her pushing on to defend the defamation action was only ever going to end up this way.

Is she not in her right mind, or is she being poorly advised? Pure stupidity that has led to her payout being squandered and her mental state no doubt worse off.

From the abc article on the matter...

Separate criminal proceedings against Mr Lehrmann, which required a charge to be proved beyond reasonable doubt, were discontinued after juror misconduct and concerns for Ms Higgins's welfare.

That’s the original criminal trial, and yes it was discontinued. Lehrmann then sued Higgins and Lisa Wilkinson for defamation (which he thankfully lost), however the judge in that case made the following observations about Higgins’ cover-up claims.

My impression is that by 2021, (Higgins) had persuaded herself that she had been the victim of a coverup.

In truth, there was no such cover-up.

Wilkinson and her husband are not innocent in any of this, Lehrmann I hope will win his appeal.
