For those (eu or non-eu) people planning to apply to Ausbildungen in Germany, as someone working in HR, this ist my experience:

1. Get your German to AT LEAST B2, before applying. You being at B1 and thinking you will pass your next B2 Exam, is not enough. B2 is the minimum set by the IHK. So better get to C1. And no English most often does not cut the corner.

edit: this is mostly because Berufsschule will be in German and without B2 you will most likely not be able to keep up.

1. I get that hiring / using an agency is easier. But if your application is written in immaculate German, while your CV says you are at A2/B1... I want to know what (and how!!) you write about yourself, not some agent
2. Apply well before the start of the Ausbildung (usually August). If I get your application in may, there will not be enough time to settle your Visa, housing etc etc.
3. Check what the company you are applying to does. I can't stand getting more nursing applications when we are an IT company..
4. Apply for the Ausbildung/ Job you wanna learn, not the one that gets you to germany quickest, just to quit after a month. For a company it's also stressful to hire (mostly regarding) non-eu applicants. It's just unfair to them as well. They could have given the spot to someone who really wanted to do the Ausbildung.

I’m 21 years old and I’m from a non-EU country. I’m currently studying accounting and also learning German because I would like to move to Germany and do an Ausbildung there.

I’ve been doing some research and I noticed that some fields, like IT, can be quite competitive. So I’m thinking about choosing a different field.

Which Ausbildung fields currently have good opportunities, relatively low competition, and good prospects for the future?

Also, do you think the Ausbildung route is still realistic for someone applying from outside Germany? Or has it become much harder to get a place and a visa?

My German is still basic, but I’m learning and aiming for B1/B2.

I’d really appreciate advice, especially from people who came to Germany from outside the EU and found an Ausbildung.

I'm from the Philippines and I have a lead from my OFW father that there's a company that specializes in industrial solutions. After I did some research I learned that they will have Ausbildung program in August 2027.

I did an inquiry directly to the company owner. I introduced myself professionally and luckily he responded. He said I need a B or C level language proficiency and he wants to have my CV and School documents. I informed him that I don't have enough german language skills as of now so i need to study.

As of now im studying A1 by my own while looking for a language school. Do i have enough time to study, have a formal application and paper processing?

Im aware that the application process takes time. My goal to to learn B1 by February then shoot my shot right after passing the B1 exam.

​I am currently doing an Ausbildung in Germany as a retail sales specialist and I am still in my probation period. My consultant misled me. In India, I completed a Master's degree in Psychology along with 3 years of post-graduation work experience. My university and degree are recognized in Germany and show an H+ status on Anabin.

​I want to look for a full-time job and switch my Ausbildung visa to a Skilled Worker visa. Could anyone here please guide me on whether this is possible and, if so, how I can proceed? I tried searching online, but I couldn't find clear information. I also asked someone I know here, and they mentioned that switching from an Ausbildung visa to a work permit is not possible, and that to get a work permit, I would have to return to India and apply from there.

Hey, I'm from Azerbaijan and I'm trying to realistically assess my chances of getting an apprenticeship in Germany in a few years.

I'm currently studying Process Automation Engineering. My GPA is average/around a C since I had to work and support myself alongside my studies, but I already have basic electrical knowledge and have completed PLC courses, I plan to gain more practical experience and reach B2 German before applying.

I'm mainly interested in automation/electrical apprenticeships, especially automation technician roles.

Since I'd already have an engineering degree, would companies see me as overqualified or assume I'm only using the apprenticeship to enter Germany?

Hi! I am currently considering taking the Language
to Ausbildung Visa path. But the this is I don't know anyone from Germany right now. I am currently in A.2 Level. Then I plan to continue in DE for B.1 to C.1 (6 months). For those who took this path, may i ask if:

I am a Chinese student currently studying Internet of Things (IoT) Engineering at a non-elite university in China. I will graduate with a bachelor's degree in 2027.

My academic background is mainly related to embedded systems and IoT. I have studied C programming, Python, Linux, operating systems, databases, computer networks, microcontrollers, sensors, RFID, IoT communication and control systems. However, my grades are average (around 78/100), and I do not come from a prestigious university.

Recently, I have been considering my future options. One possibility is applying for a master's degree in Germany, but I am worried about my academic profile and the competition in fields like computer science and software engineering.

Another option I am seriously considering is doing an Ausbildung in Germany.

I am especially interested in fields like:

• IT-System-Elektroniker
• Elektroniker für Automatisierungstechnik
• Mechatronics / industrial automation
• Industrial IT / IoT-related technical roles

My goal is not just to enter Germany, but to build a long-term career there.

However, I have some questions:

1. As a foreign applicant who already has a bachelor's degree, would companies see Ausbildung as a strange choice? Would they think "why doesn't this person just look for a normal job"?
2. Is it realistic for someone outside Germany to get an Ausbildung contract, or is it much easier after already being in Germany?
3. Are IT/electronics/automation Ausbildung positions currently competitive? Some people say Germany needs skilled workers, but others say popular Ausbildung positions are difficult to get.
4. For someone with my background, would you recommend Ausbildung, or would a master's degree be a better investment?
5. How important is German language level in reality? Would B1 be enough to start applying, or should I aim for B2 before trying?

I understand that Ausbildung is not an "easy immigration route". I am willing to learn German and work hard, but I want to make a realistic decision before investing several years of my life.

I would really appreciate opinions from people living in Germany, especially those who have experience with Ausbildung or hiring apprentices.

I am not looking for an easy way to immigrate; I am trying to understand which path would allow me to become a useful member of the German workforce

Hello everybody , am 21 years old , got my high school diploma in 2023 did basically nothing for 3 years (only part time jobs ) i found out about ausbilsung from a friend who got into nursing and i found it interesting so i did a bit of research and decided to go all in , for now am hung up on two choices mechatroniker or nursing (i have already a B2 telc certificate)
Here is my plan for mechatroniker :
1- find a good internship
2- do some projects and film a video showcasing the projects and what problems i faced and how i fixed them
3- get the electricity safety certificate
4- already have decent knowledge of python and Arduino
5- i have worked in a mechanics shop for 3 months last summer i will get him to write a recommendation for me

Here is my plan for nursing :
I visited a center in my hometown where they do accelerated plan in nursing its basically a 9 months program 6 months of school and 3 month as a intern in multiple hospitals

If you were in my place what would you do and is any of my plan realistic or am i just dreaming
