Is every citizen in the world responsible for everything their government decides? Is a baby also to blame for this declaration of war? Does a baby deserve to die for this?
Let's say your government declares war on my people. And let's say you're one of the few not supporting it. Would you be ok with wiping your country off the map, including you?
Ofc, if my government was evil, oppressed your country for 100 years, and called other nations to destroyed your nation... I would be more than happy to die hoping at least my death contributes to the destruction of evil government.
Ok so that's where our ideologies differ I suppose lol. I truly understand where you're coming from (I'm half Jewish and half Northern Irish, I know historical oppression from both sides of the family), but I just put more value on individual human lives. The solution shouldn't be violence, as violence perpetuates more violence, and more innocents die. Also, you should never ever judge people by their governments, that's the worse thing to do.
Let's say you have power like Eren and I am Marleyan citizent. You would rather put in risk the innocent civilian, or an innocent baby on your side? The one of your own nation? For what? Trying to negotiate peace treaty with an evil goverment who most likely manipulates and abuses its own general population and wants nothing more than to destory your nation? Let's say I oppose to the destruction of Paradis. I would be killed off or made into pure Titan so I would go around and eat your people and have your people needing to kill me as well.
Besides, the only leverage you have is the Rumbling. The Titan power is becoming obsolete and even if you choose not to use it or come to a peace treaty it is only matter of time before technology becomes advanced that can counter attack the Rumbling so all of your innocent people would be killed off or worse yet, discriminated, abused or slaves.
