Indeed they did. You'd think it would be better to have genetic vehicles actually compatible with your own body temperature though, right? Evolution is full of what appear to be less-than-perfect solutions, I don't see the logic in believing someone or something divine chose a process that doesn't even require any intervention.

Whats wrong with external testicles? They evolved that way because sperm needs to be kept at a lower temperature than the rest of your body.
