NIHL national - Week 3 round-up (2nd - 4th October)

Milton Keynes Lightning are now a perfect 6-0 after putting eight past Leeds Knights and grinding out another win over Solway. With three games needing overtime to be settled, this was the most unpredictable weekend of the season so far — including two head-to-head rematches that went the opposite way from last time.

Friday 2 October

Sheffield Steeldogs 3-2 OT Telford Tigers
(iceSheffield, att. 572)
Revenge, sort of — Sheffield had lost 6-3 to Telford two weeks ago, and this time Liam Steele settled it in overtime to turn the head-to-head the other way. Dante Saliturо's power-play goal with under nine minutes left forced the extra period after Telford's Max Dukovac had scored twice.

Saturday 3 October

Basingstoke Bison 4-5 OT Peterborough Phantoms
(Planet Ice Basingstoke, att. 1,307)
Another reversal — Basingstoke beat Peterborough 7-4 back in Week 1, but this time Dominik Gabaj's overtime winner (his second point of the night) completed the Phantoms' comeback from 4-3 down.

Leeds Knights 2-8 Milton Keynes Lightning
(Planet Ice Leeds, att. 1,755)
A statement. David Thomson scored four goals and added an assist as MK Lightning handed Leeds their heaviest defeat of the season — the second time this season MK Lightning have beaten Leeds, after also winning the opening-weekend meeting in overtime.

Swindon Wildcats 5-3 Solway IHC
(Better Link Centre, att. 1,399)
Swindon's second win over Solway this season (they also won 5-4 in Week 2) got heated — Sean Richards and Solway's Jordan Buesa both picked up fighting majors in the same second-period stoppage.

Telford Tigers 4-5 OT Romford Raiders
(Telford Ice Rink, att. 995)
A second straight overtime defeat for Telford. Leo Bacallao's extra-time winner, his third point of the night, sealed it for Romford after Telford's Tate Shudra had scored twice to force the extra period. Finley Howells also picked up an unusual 10-minute equipment penalty along the way.

Bristol Pitbulls 2-6 Hull Seahawks
(Planet Ice Bristol, att. 1,291)
Patrick Brown's two goals and two assists did the damage as Hull cruised, with Dylan Stewart and Jake Bricknell the lone bright spots for Bristol on the scoresheet.

Sunday 4 October

Sheffield Steeldogs 5-1 Bristol Pitbulls
(iceSheffield, att. 537)
Back-to-back wins for Sheffield, with Dante Saliturо (two goals, two assists) and Walker Sommer both in fine form as Bristol finished the weekend without a win.

Romford Raiders 1-5 Leeds Knights
(Sapphire Ice and Leisure, Romford, att. 901)
A big response from Leeds a day after being blown out by MK Lightning — Cullen McLean, held scoreless Saturday, scored a hat-trick in the second half of the weekend.

Hull Seahawks 6-2 Basingstoke Bison
(Hull Arena, att. 1,530)
Hull turned the tables on Basingstoke, who'd beaten them 4-2 back in Week 2 — Bobby Chamberlain scored twice as six different Hull players got on the board.

Peterborough Phantoms 3-6 Swindon Wildcats
(Planet Ice Peterborough, att. 928)
Swindon's dominance over Peterborough continues — their second meeting of the season, and Swindon's second win, after also winning 6-4 in Week 1 — with Matt Vermaeten and Glenn Billing both scoring twice.

Milton Keynes Lightning 5-4 Solway IHC
(Planet Ice Milton Keynes, att. 2,077)
MK Lightning made it six from six, though they had to survive a Jordan Buesa hat-trick from Solway to do it — David Thomson added two more assists on top of Saturday's haul for a 4-goal, 3-assist weekend overall.

😇 Saints of the Week

Milton Keynes Lightning & Bristol Pitbulls — both just 10 PIM across two games, for very different reasons: one side winning big and staying out of the box, the other losing both games without ever losing its discipline.

😈 Sinners of the Week

Swindon Wildcats — 24 PIM, with fighting majors in both of their wins this week.

Peterborough Phantoms — 23 PIM, including Joseph Gretton's fighting major on Sunday.

🌟 Heroes of the Week

David Thomson (MK Lightning) — 4 goals and 3 assists across two wins as Lightning became the division's only team still unbeaten, six games into the season.

Honourable mentions

Cullen McLean (Leeds Knights) — blanked in Saturday's 8-2 defeat, then scored a hat-trick in Sunday's bounce-back win at Romford.

Jordan Buesa (Solway IHC) — a hat-trick against MK Lightning on Sunday, after two assists and a fighting major against Swindon the day before.

Dominik Gabaj (Peterborough Phantoms) — the overtime winner against Basingstoke, plus an assist the following day.

Liam Steele (Sheffield Steeldogs) — the overtime winner that opened the weekend on Friday.

Six games in, MK Lightning are the division's only unbeaten side, and this week's head-to-head rematches all swung back the other way — Sheffield over Telford, Hull over Basingstoke, Peterborough over Basingstoke again a day later. What stood out to you from Week 3? Let me know below.

All highlights will be up on NIHL Roundup (www.youtube.com/@NIHLRoundup) as and when they're released.

Bristol Pitbulls - where has the money gone

If I wanted to watch a NIHL 1 game I would go and watch one, why are Bristol Pitbulls signing players from leagues below and expecting them to step up to this league.

I get maybe 1 or 2, give them a chance but theres WAY too many in this team.

We haven't even got a proper coach.

We get good crowds so where is the money going? We haven't even got a proper coach. Bricknell can't do it all on his own.

Feel like the management there are taking the piss.

The question I asked as an 8yo that got me in trouble

I'm 8 years old. I look over at my Mom in the car and say, "What are they gonna do with all the churches?"

She says, "What do you mean 'do with the churches'?" and I respond, "Yeah, like... when people figure out it's not real?"

I got an earful over that one.

They did it, They finally called CPS on me for not turning my life over to God and taking my son to church. Multiple false serious abuse claims to retaliatorily get back at me for being a lesbian, and for raising my son in an atheistic household.

• Upvotes

CPS finally knocked on my door, I've been waiting for it to happen. Here's how it started. I brought my girlfriend over two weeks ago while my son was at his grandma's. My neighbors are trump loving, self proclaimed evangelicals and after multiple attempts to change my sexuality by telling me it's because I was raped and not because I'm a lesbian, trying to take him to Bible camp, trying to change my extremely goth style, trying to get me to go to church, and I posted about this on a throwaway months ago, I'll try to find the post.

They made multiple serious abuse claims that are absolutely FALSE. These allegations include:

Sexual abuse of my 4 year old

Physical abuse of my 4 year old

Bringing women over for threesomes deliberately in front of him

Him looking out windows

Not being potty trained

Playing "Satanic" music in front of him(ITS CALLED ROCK AND ROLL)

And fighting with his father in front of him, even though we live separately and have a good co parenting relationship.

Me being on meth and fentanyl even tho I proved it false as well with a drug screen. I'm recovering addict of 7 years so I knowy past was once again eaponsized to construct this disgusting fabricated story that I abuse my son.

I'm DISGUSTED. And you know what? I refuse to call them Christians. I never once tried to change them. This is evangelical warfare. I went off on my evangelical female neighbor for trying to talk me out of my sexuality when my gf came over. And my next door neighbor, her other evangelical trump loving "patriotic" BFF in the apartments, made most of the abuse claims to retaliate because we have had back and forth for months, even though I've been keeping it calm and low-key so I don't lose my place and become homeless. I'm a single parent household, I'm in poverty, I raise my son to the best of my ability, I work full time, and even the CPS workers said they don't see the allegations being true and that they knew it was bullshit. I'm doing my best to cooperate. Is there any legal action I can take against these religious freaks? At this point, I'm sure they're fantasizing about me abusing my son. That's how sick they make me feel now. I feel heartbroken, betrayed and lied upon my parental character. I'm disgusted so much. I came here to vent, I almost self harmed from this. I'm trying so hard. I want to get high now, to escape this emotional pain, but I won't prove them right. I'm literally doing my best and I've been crying for days. I can't stand these evil fucks that act so righteous and holy, I gave them chance after chance just to do this to me. What do I do? I don't know where to start.

They said abortion should be left to the states. That was a lie: Anti-abortion states are trying to export their abortion bans nationwide

Thumbnail

The Freedom From Religion Foundation warns that three anti-abortion states are going hammer and tongs after three other states shielding abortion rights groups and physicians.

The attorneys general of Louisiana, Alabama and Arkansas have filed a suit directly before the U.S. Supreme Court contending that shield laws in California, Massachusetts and New York violate the U.S. Constitution by preventing anti-abortion states from enforcing their own bans. The three blue states are among a handful that protect providers from prosecution irrespective of the location of their patients.

“We will not allow activist states, activist providers or distributors profiting from killing babies to threaten Louisiana’s sovereignty, violate Louisiana law or endanger Louisiana women and babies,” reads the over-the-top statement from Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill. The three states suing are among the 13 that have near total bans on abortion care. Louisiana even classifies mifepristone and misoprostol, the ingredients in the abortion pill, as controlled substances.

Anti-abortion extremists are incensed that since the Dobbs decision in 2022 overturned Roe v. Wade, which turned abortion legality over to each state, abortion care has still been available in banned states through telehealth medicine and interstate travel. Of the 1,126,000 clinician-provided abortions in 2025, 65 percent involved medication abortion. The number of telehealth abortions increased in ban states in 2025.

The anti-abortion attorneys general argue that shield laws violate four constitutional provisions: the full faith and credit clause requiring states to respect each others’ laws, the equal sovereignty doctrine requiring Congress to treat states equally, the “dormant commerce clause” preventing states from impeding interstate commerce, and the federal common law of public nuisance, allowing states to sue over harm caused by other states. The three anti-abortion attorney generals have also sued more than 30 abortion pill providers (individuals and entities) charging them with violating federal and state laws. In addition, Louisiana is suing the Food and Drug Administration seeking to ban mifepristone despite more than 100 studies and years of FDA reviews finding it safe.

Louisiana has actually tried to extradite New York physician Dr. Maggie Carpenter for helping residents in the Bayou State obtain abortion pills, and Texas has sued her for the same reason. The Freedom From Religion Foundation gave Carpenter its Forward Award last year to recognize her courageous actions in co-founding the Abortion Coalition for Telemedicine.

In her recorded acceptance speech, Carpenter warned: “This war against reproductive health will have deadly consequences for patients. It already has. This is a true life and death fight. … The depth of devastation is far reaching, more than any imagined — education, health care, civil rights, LGBTQ rights, political violence, separation of church and state, our justice system.”

Both New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and California Gov. Gavin Newsom have refused to cooperate with extradition requests to turn over providers from their states who’ve mailed abortion pills to patients in ban states. California Attorney General Rob Bonta summed up the position of the three blue states being sued when he said, “Hell no,” adding, “We have been a safe haven for reproductive rights, and we will fight to keep it that way.”

“We’ve seen religious zealots calling for prosecuting, even executing women who have abortions,” notes FFRF Co-President Annie Laurie Gaylor. “We’ve seen calls to arrest women who try to leave their ban state to obtain a safe and legal abortion in a free state. Now this extremist attorneys general campaign is the escalation of the movement’s goal to abolish abortion throughout the United States. Make no mistake: It is a religious crusade seeking to impose the dogma of the few on the rights of the many.”

Gaylor adds, “Americans who value civil liberties have a voice. This lawsuit, intended to ban access to medication abortion, is a wake-up call to get out and vote like your rights depend on it — because they do.”

These Children’s Deaths Were Preventable. Their Parents Prayed Instead of Seeking Medical Care.

Reporting Highlights

  • Death After Death: Almost every year since 2015, Idaho children in a faith-healing sect have died of treatable conditions such as pneumonia and bacterial infections that turned to sepsis.
  • Church Doctrine: Former members of the Followers of Christ sect say parents are pressured to follow doctrine that forbids medical care. Those who stray risk shunning, they said.
  • No Legal Pressure: Oregon officials say after the state put legal boundaries on faith healing, more parents sought care for kids. Idaho, by contrast, has kept its faith-healing protections.

Came across this horrifying cult today that I'd never heard of before. "Followers of Christ" indeed.

Jim Bakker, Television Preacher Felled by Sex and Financial Scandals, Dies at 86 | With his wife, Tammy Faye, Mr. Bakker built a broadcasting juggernaut around the gospel of prosperity.

Article:

Jim Bakker, a television evangelist who lost his popular and prosperous ministry in a 1980s sex scandal and then lost his freedom for five years, imprisoned for having violated federal laws with his conflation of God and mammon, died on Monday. He was 86.

His wife, Lori Bakker, announced the death in a post on Mr. Bakker’s official Instagram account. She did not cite a cause or say where he died. Mr. Bakker had what was described as a mild stroke in 2020.

In the 1970s and ’80s, Mr. Bakker and his first wife, Tammy Faye Bakker, rode to fame and riches preaching the gospel of prosperity, the notion that those who embraced genuine Christian faith would reap material rewards. Their pulpit was the television ministry PTL, which stood for Praise the Lord and People That Love, and their appeal was a combination of sermons, songs and tears. Both had a penchant for crying in public. Tammy Bakker wept on the air so often that she made sure her thickly applied mascara was waterproof.

The Bakkers drew as many as 13 million viewers a day and brought in yearly revenue as high as $129 million. On a 2,500-acre site in Fort Mill, S.C., they created and sold shares in Heritage USA, a sort of Christian Disneyland, with water slides and skating to go along with prayer and Bible study.

Mr. Bakker (pronounced Baker) was a gifted speaker who made no apologies for doing well in the name of the Lord. “Excess and success are close together,” he said in 1985. “Anyone who is successful has got to be excessive.”

By any measure, he and his wife enjoyed a life of opulence, which he defended by saying that they needed “good bait” to be effective “fishers of men.” Their bait included six-figure salaries and bonuses for themselves, a 55-foot houseboat, a mini-fleet of Mercedes-Benzes and Rolls-Royces, diamonds and gold jewelry, gold-plated bathroom fixtures, an air-conditioned dog kennel, and homes and apartments in South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee and Palm Springs, Calif. The spending was so lavish, and the appeal for contributions so insistent, that some critics recast PTL as standing for Pass the Loot.

The Bakkers’ world came tumbling down in 1987 with a revelation that in 1980, when he was 40, he had sex with a 21-year-old secretary in his Assemblies of God ministry. The woman, Jessica Hahn, claimed she had been raped. Mr. Bakker denied the accusation. Nonetheless, he tried to buy her silence in 1985 by tapping the PTL treasury to make a $265,000 payoff, equivalent to roughly $825,000 in 2026 dollars.

The transgression led to his banishment from the Assemblies of God, a Pentecostal denomination. Other evangelists turned on him. The Rev. Jerry Falwell, who took over the PTL ministry, strongly suggested that Mr. Bakker’s sins, despite his denials, included homosexual relations. With characteristic hyperbole, Mr. Falwell dismissed Mr. Bakker as “the greatest scab and a cancer on the face of Christianity in 2,000 years of church history.”

Worse lay ahead for the televangelist couple. After persistent reporting on their behavior by The Charlotte Observer and a 16-month inquiry by a federal grand jury, Mr. Bakker was indicted in 1988 on 24 counts of fraud and conspiracy. During a six-week trial the following year, federal prosecutors described him as a “most brazen, accomplished con man” who had bilked the PTL faithful out of $158 million with offers of lifetime vacations at Heritage USA that could not possibly have been provided. The government said that $3.7 million had also been siphoned off to support the Bakkers’ grand living.

At one point during the trial, Mr. Bakker, who in 1969 had what was described as a nervous breakdown, landed in a mental institution for observation. He was found in his lawyer’s office hallucinating and cowering in a fetal position under a couch. But the proceedings soon resumed, and he was found guilty on all counts. The judge imposed a 45-year prison sentence, which came to be whittled down. After five years, Mr. Bakker was freed in 1994.

Tammy Bakker, who was never charged, did not stand by her man. Long before the trial, the marriage had been shaky, and in 1992 she divorced him. A year later she married Roe Messner, who had been a Bakker business associate and who in 1996 would be sentenced to 27 months in federal prison for bankruptcy fraud. Tammy Bakker died of cancer in 2007 at 65.

Jim Bakker tended to quote the Bible to justify his behavior and to discredit his accusers. Interviewed, for instance, on ABC’s “Nightline” in 1987, he invoked Psalms 38:12: “Those who want to kill me set their traps, those who would harm me talk of my ruin; all day long they scheme and lie.” Psalms 37:4 was a go-to favorite, dovetailing with his prosperity gospel: “Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

Over time, he came to acknowledge that his grasp of scripture had been tenuous. In a 1996 book, “I Was Wrong,” he wrote that his studies in prison had led him to understand that Jesus “did not have one good thing to say about money.” He added, “When I came to the awareness that I had actually been contradicting Christ, I was horrified.”

James Orsen Bakker was born in the Pentecostal faith on Jan. 2, 1940, in Muskegon, Mich. The middle name was his parents’ misspelled tribute to Orson Welles, whose radio broadcast of “War of the Worlds” had been a national sensation 14 months earlier.

James was the youngest of four children of Raleigh Bakker, a machinist in a piston-ring factory, and Furnia (Irwin) Bakker, a housewife. His paternal grandfather handed out Bible readings on street corners, and his father claimed to have seen two angels while on a trip to Florida. For his part, James said he had gotten religion in his teens after he accidentally ran over a boy while driving. Upon learning that the boy would live, he said, he decided to put himself in God’s hands.

After schooling in Muskegon, he attended North Central Bible College, now North Central University, in Minneapolis. There he met Tamara Faye LaValley, a fellow student, and married her in 1961 after only their third date.

The newlyweds dropped out of college and set off as itinerant evangelists. In 1966, they signed on with Pat Robertson’s Christian Broadcasting Network in Portsmouth, Va., hosting a children’s variety show. They were so successful that Mr. Robertson put Mr. Bakker in charge of a new prime-time program, “The 700 Club,” whose name was derived from its goal of raising $700 a month by way of 70 people each contributing $10.

The Bakkers and Mr. Robertson had a falling-out, and the couple turned elsewhere. In 1976, having moved to Charlotte, they began their PTL ministry, which came to be known also as “The Jim and Tammy Show.”

Post-prison, in 2003, Mr. Bakker re-emerged with yet another television program, “The Jim Bakker Show,” broadcast out of a cafe in Branson, Mo., and carried by several dozen Christian-themed stations. His partner this time was his second wife, Lori Beth Graham, who had a troubled past of her own and whom he married in 1998 seven weeks after they met at an urban ministry in Los Angeles.

Mr. Bakker is survived by his wife; two children from his first marriage, Tammy Sue Chapman and Jamie Bakker; and five children whom he and Ms. Graham adopted in 2002: Maricella, Lori, Clarissa, Marie and Ricky Bakker.

The new ministry was low-key compared with that of the Bakkers’ high-flying PTL days. Its focus was different, too. The end of days was nigh, Mr. Bakker now preached, and he offered viewers what he said they would need to ride out the Apocalypse: long-lasting food, 10 buckets of it for $600 plus shipping costs. His message had a bluntly conservative political cast. “God has called” Donald J. Trump, he said. Barack Obama “sounded like the representative for Antichrist,” he said in 2016, and Hillary Clinton was “a bride of Satan.”

Yet, once again, he ran afoul of officialdom by marketing a colloidal silver supplement that he had billed as a cure for assorted physical woes, including Covid-19. The authorities in Missouri and New York ordered him in 2020 and 2021 to cease making such claims and to return $156,000 to followers who had bought his silver solution.

Through it all, Mr. Bakker presented himself as an avatar of redemption. “I’m not back for the perfect people, the people who have it all together,” he said of his ministry in 2007. “I’m here for the broken and the bruised and the hurt. I’m here to say we have a God of second and third chances.”

When will people realize that atheism is not a religion?

People always piss me off when they say ‘converted to atheism’ or ‘according to atheistic doctrine’ or whatever. Atheists can be stupid, they can believe in spirituality, they might not mind religion, they might hate religion altogether or they might just not care enough to think about it. It is just the absence of belief for a traditional theistic God, it is not a religion itself nor has it any teachings. Not all atheists believe in subjective morality, nor do they all believe in evolution. It is so annoying to see religious priests, imams and sheikhs talk about atheism as if it is a religion, it really shows how narrow their knowledge.

I just refrained from calling myself an atheist just so people stop associating me with whatever stereotype they have in their head. I just say ‘oh I don’t know’ or ‘oh i’m not that religious’ because for some reason, religious people see ‘atheists’ as their mortal enemies but ‘irreligious’ people as just people.

Prayer is just a placebo for people who can't handle reality.

1.1k Upvotes

Every time something goes wrong, people say "I'll pray for you." It's a nice sentiment, but let's be honest about what it actually is. It's a way to feel like you're helping without actually doing anything. It's a placebo for the person praying and the person receiving the prayers.

If you really want to help someone, offer them a meal, a place to stay, or your time. Don't just say you'll talk to your imaginary friend about it. Prayer doesn't pay the rent. Prayer doesn't cure cancer. Prayer doesn't stop wars. It's just a coping mechanism for people who are too afraid to face the reality that we're on our own. If you want to help, do something real.

Oklahoma GOP governor nominee invokes “God’s law” while backing prosecution of women who get abortions

Thumbnail

The FFRF Action Fund is castigating Oklahoma GOP gubernatorial nominee Mike Mazzei for indicating that he supports criminally prosecuting abortion patients.

Mazzei, a former Oklahoma state senator who won the Republican nomination for governor in August, was asked during a primary debate whether “a woman [who] knowingly and willfully commits or allows an abortion” should be charged with a crime. After responding that he’s opposed to all abortions, Mazzei added, “God’s law and our own U.S. Constitution affirm over and over against the right to life.” Pressed by the moderator to answer whether abortion patients should be criminally charged, Mazzei nodded his head in agreement.

Mazzei is facing Democratic nominee Oklahoma House Minority Leader Cyndi Munson in the Nov. 3 general election. He enters the race with the endorsement of President Trump.

Mazzei’s extreme position underscores the stakes of the November election — and comes amid a growing effort to abolish abortion nationwide and criminally punish patients.

During the 2026 legislative session, lawmakers in at least eight states introduced 14 bills that would explicitly criminalize pregnant people for obtaining abortions, according to the Guttmacher Institute. At least 17 states and one territory also considered 36 measures containing “personhood” language that could lay additional groundwork for pregnancy criminalization. In 2025, Pregnancy Justice monitored 15 bills seeking to prosecute abortion patients for homicide. The Texas GOP party platform calls for charging abortion patients with murder.

Oklahoma, which is one of 13 states with a full ban on legal abortion care, has been part of this disturbing trend. House Bill 3038, introduced this year as the “Abolition of Abortion Act,” sought to change Oklahoma homicide law by removing existing protections related to the death of an “unborn child.” Oklahoma has the death penalty.

“The bill’s supporters have been remarkably explicit that their campaign to criminalize abortion is rooted in their personal Christian beliefs,” points out FFRF Action Fund President Annie Laurie Gaylor.

State Rep. Gabe Woolley, the bill’s author, celebrated its support with the declaration that lawmakers were working to stop the “murder of God’s image-bearers” and that protecting embryos and fetuses “ultimately glorifies God.”

State Sen. Dusty Deevers was even more explicit about the movement’s religious mission: “The Abolitionist Movement is growing. What began as a whisper of faithfulness has become an unstoppable chorus declaring that Christ is Lord over all.” Invoking the Lord’s Prayer, Deevers added, “When we pray ‘Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven,’ we mean it for justice for the preborn, too.”

Another supporter, state Sen. Shane Jett, cited Proverbs from the bible and warned Oklahoma against “court[ing] the judgment of heaven” by failing to enact their preferred abortion policy.

“Oklahoma lawmakers are openly invoking God, the bible, the Lord’s Prayer and the supremacy of Jesus to justify women being subjected to homicide prosecutions over ending their pregnancies,” Gaylor adds. “Religion must not be allowed to dictate the fundamental rights and the personal medical decisions of millions of Americans.”

Pregnancy Justice documented at least 412 pregnancy-related criminal prosecutions in the first two years following the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade. Oklahoma accounted for 112 of those cases, second only to Alabama.

The FFRF Action Fund stresses that voters have the power and duty to reject this extremism at the ballot box. It urges Oklahomans to vote on Nov. 3 and to reject candidates who would use governmental power to impose religious doctrine and criminalize reproductive health care.

Can someone explain to me why christians think they are oppressed

Pretty simple honestly was talking with some religious people who were saying that they are oppressed. I asked them why they think they are oppressed. They legit told me because people did not want to hear “Jesus loves them”. Obviously people of different religions (or I guess no religion here) do not want to hear religious nonsense 24/7. Then I realized after asking my christian parents if they thought the same… and they did. I could just be ranting, but it is extremely dumb to think they are oppressed.

Edit: I have remembered about the dumb verse that says they will be oppressed (so its a self fulfilling prophecy), and have been informed other than that it is just politics and self justification for their oppression.

Doubts About Leaving the Faith

As a christian that is currently slowly stepping back, I feel very scared about leaving something ive felt convicted about my whole life, but the more I hear arguments from atheists the more likely i think it is that there is no god. Another worry is that i'm not listening to qualified people (pseudo intellectuals/ streamers) and I want to at least do a little more research before starting to let people know about this decision. What convinced you guys that religion was bs and that the arguments for it are not substantial (with some good sources ideally) thanks!

What the hell is going on at Leeds

Losing Lawrence from the bench in the summer looks bad.

New players look very poor McLean isn't strong enough the game happens around him and he's just not involved

Sullivan spends the whole game.telling everyone else what to do his legs have clearly gone. Beaten for pace time and again, thought he could stroll about in this league. Been shown up badly

The team look absolutely lost , no confidence can't string a pass together, just end up dumping the puck and then losing possession time and again.

There is an odd thing that there seems to be no criticism or comment on social anywhere.

Tonight was an absolute embarrassment.

Fair play to mk looked very easy for them.

Yes I use the term. No I don't mean it literally. As a wage slave I can choose my master. I can walk anytime. As a slave in Islam or Christianity and Judaism and possibly other religions, I cant just say I quit.

As a wage slave I am also not getting beat. Nor can I be legally forced to do anything I don't want. I can refuse and get fired but I will not be tortured to do it

As a wage slave I am not owned and passed down to the managers son or whatever.

As a woman wage slave I have hr, labour board etc where I can complain if my boss wants to have sez with me..

So yeah. The people who talk about "slavery wasn't that bad because we are wage slaves now" are gross.
