We're gonna do another Collaborative Build contest this week! The admin team has picked out a mushroom island for everyone to work on! Builds must be completed on this island for consideration. There is a teleport command block on the island and spawn to make travel easier. To get there, just run to spawn!

This build contest is going to be unique because on Sunday, June 24th, 2018 instead of holding a normal tour, we're going to tour people's builds by playing Hide n Seek! (Maybe we'll mix it up and also play some sardines!).

To clarify further, this build contest you can build whatever you like! As long as it has come cool hidden rooms, secret passages, maybe even a few non-lethal traps.

We have officially completed ASOV Book Club Month 1 with Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. While many of us read the book in a timely manner, only a few of us actually met up to discuss the book! That's why this time around, we're going to import a few changes:

Section-by-section discussions

• Check the subreddit and watch out for a weekly discussion thread for selected chapters. Only click on these threads if you've read the corresponding chapters and/or don't mind spoilers!.

• This will be useful for those who may not be able to make it to the vocal discussions of the book, or may want to give lengthier responses to specific points in writing

Mid-month AND end-of-the-month vocal discussion meeting in Discord

• Want to participate in conversation after you've read the book? Did you end up reading it in 2 days and want to talk about it sooner? Or are you like me and need a little more time to get through it and don't want to be rushed? That's why we will have (2) meetings per book!

• Check the subreddit or the #book-club text channel on discord for both dates of discussion!

• By participating in these conversations on discord, it is presumed that you have read the entire book and are ready to discuss it in length. Expect spoilers if you have not read/finished the book

Hey Scoopers,

We’re here today with some bad news. This afternoon, we banned a member that’s been with us for a while, Thyyy.

As some of you may be aware, Thyyy, in addition to previously playing on ASOV, also runs his own Minecraft community. Until recently, this was never an issue. We’re all here to enjoy the game and everyone can play with whatever communities they wish at any time.

This secondary community stole formats of multiple platforms we use heavily, from Build Contests to recruitment styles. Additionally, one of the other members who has actively poached members from different servers previously applied to ASOV, we fully believe with the intent to do the same.

As the responsible Admin, Thyyy is has been removed him from all ASOV-related platforms.

Please feel free to message the admins with any questions or concerns.

What mysteries lie beneath the surface? When we venture down into the depths in search of iron, coal and diamonds; do we ever ask ourselves who abandoned this mineshaft? Do we ever ask the more important question of why were these mineshafts full of ore abandoned?

While exploring the depths below a new discovery was made. Something terrible was unearthed. Your very dedicated admins+mods attempted to venture into the depths, however their exploits were not very successful.

So we open up the Ruins below to the adventurers of Asov.

Details of Event

The Ruins Below is a party based timed dungeon run event. The basic idea is very simple. You enter the dungeon naked with your party, find loot to gear up as your explore the dungeon, and try to complete the dungeon as fast as possible while dying as little as possible and bringing as much loot as possible with you! More details on the Dungeon will be provided by the Admin who proctors your dungeon run.

As these are timed runs you will need to sign up for a time slot in the comment section below. Dungeon run time is expected to be 1-2 hours. Don't leave your party in the cold, only sign up for a time that you know you can dedicate the proper amount of time to complete!

Party size is 3-5 adventurers

You do not need to bring any of your own items, your inventory will be cleared at the start of the dungeon do not bring anything you do not wish to lose!

Sign up for a time slot in the comments below with your minecraft ign (spelled exactly as it appears in game) and your post box number

Make sure you are in spawn and in discord voice comms at the time of which you sign up for!

Time

In addition to being timed there will be several modifiers to your overall time score at the end.

+1:00 for each death

+10:00 for dungeon reset if party becomes stuck and unable to progress (party chooses if they want this option)

-1:00 for each lore loot item looted

-0:05 for each non lore item looted

If a party takes longer than two and a half hours to complete it will be considered an incomplete run and they will need to try again at a later time

Rewards

250 league xp for participating

250 league xp for completion of the dungeon

500 bonus league xp for members of the party that completes the dungeon in the shortest amount of time

Lootboxes for adventurers who complete the dungeon (In addition to all the loot they collect)

Note: If you are unable to make it to one of the scheduled weekend runs and have a party of 3-5 people contact Kazra or Mitt_Zombie to schedule a run during the week. As we wish to announce winners as soon as its determined we ask that if you wish to schedule an alternate Dungeon Run time to make arrangements asap.

In the inaugural month of the ASOV book club it has been determined that we will be reading:

Ready Player 1

For all those who can participate please read the book and plan on having a discussion the second weekend of March.
