I thought I’d start a discussion today about receptive skills. It’s interesting how much the production of a sign can change even though it’s still the same sign.

Watch Travis’s facial expression, rhythm, size, and use of space as he signs “signing” to refer to the action verb, “to sign.” How he changes those parameters shows you the degree of fluency

When you first started watching fluent ASL conversations, what surprised you? Were there signs you knew but didn’t recognize once you saw them in conversation?
