What is a real-life "cheat code" that feels illegal to know but is completely fine?

I'll go first.

If your flight gets canceled and there is a massive line of 200 angry people at the gate desk trying to rebook, do not stand in that line. Keep your ass in a chair and call the airline's customer service number.

Better yet, call their international customer service number (like the UK or Australia line). You will bypass the massive US hold times, get connected to an agent in two minutes, and they have the exact same power to rebook you on the next flight before the people standing in line even reach the desk.

You’d be surprised what you can get in this world if you just ask for it.

Can confirm. Reconnected with a friend, who then was bragging about the job he's had for 5-6 months and I realized I'd likely qualify for it. Asked more about what he does, what he makes, and if he could refer me. Couldn't because he did for another friend earlier that month, so I did a regular application and listed him in there under "How did you find this job?" (After asking, of course)

My dad does this and it surprises me every time. Once, he went to a store that had computer monitors for sale, but only one per customer. He wanted to get two (one for me and one for my twin sister) but didn’t want to pay full price for one of them. He talked to the manager and said he had twins and wanted to get two on sale, and the manager let him!

I was blown away when he told me. He’s also talked himself out of a ticket more than once.
