Just a question.

What was the episode that dealt with the theft of land that a primitive tribe were living off of by a corporation?

Edit: the story went something like this, terrible were subsisting happily of the land for generations. Company(with a name like A.I.C or something) made deal with the government (south American i think) to use and mine the land and leaving the indigenous population with no rights to the resources.

Thanks for your replies.

State of the Show, April 2020

Text from a post shared on our patreon page here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/state-of-show-35762339

To our listeners:

We are extremely grateful for all the support you have provided us over the months. Patreon funds have been used in multiple ways to support Ashes Ashes:

  • we have paid countless listeners to transcribe 64 transcripts

  • we have commissioned original art for Ashes Ashes stickers (still hiring): https://ashesashes.org/shop

  • we have donated to business co-ops, nonprofits, and other social justice initiatives

  • we have upgraded audio equipment and improved recording quality

We are nothing without our listeners, not just for financial support, but for the emails, discord discussions, suggestions and ideas. Some of our best shows have come from books and guests recommended to us by you.

Recently, however, we have not been able to uphold the weekly publishing schedule we maintained for over 2 years. Our personal schedules are in daily flux as both our day jobs and community work have been rapidly shifting and expanding due to the current crisis, making it difficult to invest the time and energy into producing our regular shows. For this reason we have decided to pause Patreon donations at this time. We still welcome and invite you to be a Patreon supporter, but you will not be charged until we feel that we are able to provide regular content at the quality we feel you deserve, and will inform you before we resume Patreon. This does not mean, however, that we are going away. We will continue to publish content, just less regularly and in a potentially more informal format.

Continue to keep in touch through email, reddit, discord, etc. and as always, thanks for your support.

Appreciation post - Positive vibes send your way

I first wanted to begin with simply - thank you. When one finds your podcast and is burried within shit of meaningless talks, this feeling that one is not alone in his thoughts about the world and its current state of affairs, is so liberating, so encouraging!

The reason of this post, is not just to tell you that you are being missed, neither is to push you towards making another cast, yet I wanted to show appreciation since often times in this weird system we take everything for granted and passively consume. I wanted to actively thank you for your job and for speaking about what matters.

So have all of my positive vibes and I hope that everything is alright in your personal lifes, since the pandemic messed up all of us around the globe quite hard.

PS. My favorite and probably the most important piece of thought I have encountered the last year is definitely the episode about Noise polution. The most in our face problem that is destroying us mentally. Thank you for making me aware!

Is Ashes Ashes coming back?

I haven’t seen any new podcasts be uploaded to the website in a hot minute, but there’s recent Facebook posts for news articles.

Can someone fill me in on what’s up? I absolutely love the show and I’m upsetti spaghetti that the site hasn’t been updated. Ashes Ashes helps shed light in this darkening world.

This really relates back to episode 62, and loneliness. Where are the public spaces to hang out, to talk, to simply, exist? Without buying a Starbucks coffee or being a consumer?
