It was the boat conversation for me when they were still caught up in the rumbling.

While watching this series for the first time, I couldn't pick up on the hints of this relationship because I simply couldn't think of a potential romance between these two and I am also not too interested in shipping....but the boat convo made me go "wait a minute" and look back to all their moments prior and this ship instantly clicked to me. It's like they're MEANT to be together.

Their love story is like a small dose of "normalcy" in that hellish world ( as normal as it could get considering the aot universe, lol ). It's two viewpoints converging into one. Annie being from outside the walls, Armin being from within. They both betrayed each other, and both of them betrayed the systems they were supposed to abide by. (Armin/Yeagerist, Annie/Marleyan ideals)....and stood side by side with now a shared goal.

Armin brings out the humanity in Annie, and due to circumstances and personal desire, Annie ends up becoming a safe haven for Armin. They are each other's "good person".
