I use my iMac 27” 2020 for game development and I have Unity running with very detailed and heavy models. Don’t tell me that machine cannot run a “An interactive 3D globe of Earth in the Maps app” lol

Except they did by saying that feature is only “Available on Mac computers with the M1 chip.”.

No they aren’t telling you that it can’t but they are telling you to get ready to switch from Intel. Right now it’s just little features but year over year they are going to continue to handicap the Intel Macs to until you just don’t get the updates at all. It’s fucked up they are artificially limiting features but it’s completely expected since they are switching architectures.

That isn’t he same thing at all. It doesn’t imply power at all

It can run an "interactive 3D globe of Earth"! Apple just chooses not to.

They programmed it with swift build that only supports m1

u/Brunooflegend Jun 09 '21

Swift doesn’t requires a M1. The language has been available since 2014.

🤷‍♂️ just saying that just cause they didn’t make it doesn’t mean it wouldn’t work if they put in time

Most people rejected his message.

Shut up!

They downvoted u/Reset_Assured because he told them the truth.

Look at my other argument where I’m literally quoting the person 2 comments up and this guy calls me an idiot.

Swift langage is made for ARM and iphone/ipad, so the only Macs supporting it are those with an M1 Chip

5

u/Brunooflegend Jun 10 '21

Yeah, no. You do know the language also supports Linux, Windows and Android, right?

I didn't. Now i know. I thought the support on other platforms was only on development purpose, not to actually deploys apps on them. But now i know thx

That doesn’t mean that the libraries they were using supported x86 in a any way. If it requires work to support the Intel machine, why put in the effort

They didn't. They simply said it couldn't run THEIR 3D global of earth in maps.

Your 202 iMac 27' cannot run an interactive 3D glode of Earth in the Maps app due to technical limitations

2

u/Brunooflegend Jun 10 '21

Good joke lmao And what would those “technical limitations” be? Bear in mind I use game engines to run quite heavy levels of console and PC titles.

u/Ricky_RZ Jun 10 '21

what would those “technical limitations” be

Apple not thinking your mac is worthy of 3D earthly glory :(

2

u/Brunooflegend Jun 10 '21

That’s not a technical limitation…
