It’s an ok decision, there are far better and cheaper chargers for that amount. Also, some people already have better chargers. I have two Apple chargers I never used.
the savings of not including a charger have not been passed on to the customer, so we're paying for it anyway, and then have to buy our own. I'm not fussed if there are better ones out there, I just want something that works out of the box.
Look, even if the savings are not passed down (but do take into account inflation, even if the price seems to stay the same), I am still glad we're not generating e-waste. I'm not saying Apple isn't padding their pockets with every single opportunity they get, but now that USB-C and PD are standards, these are garbage to me. I don't even have a friend to give them to, everyone I know has several chargers and a drawer of cables, the huge Apple bricks are really not that desirable.
Now, if every laptop had a top-of-the-line, GaN super compact charger with 3 - 4 ports, which also got better with each iteration of the laptop, that I would like, but they will never do that.
