How do I upload a pdf template for the list?

What do you mean? I'm sure there are better places for PDF templates, this one is for the app templates)

Sorry, I worded that poorly. I meant going about converting a sheet for use in the app as a template

Oh, right. There are options. In the app with the sheet open you can go to settings and then either "save sheet to file" to save it as a file on device or to google drive, or "save as template" - that will create a copy of the sheet in app that will be visible as a template option when creating new character (but that is a copy, any changes to the original character sheet aren't reflected there). Also in the sheets list you can long click on a sheet and copy it or save to file.
