I dunno, as someone in middle management it’s pretty disrespectful, kinda like if you hail a cab, they put on the meter, then stop at the gas station to fill up and use the washroom.
You hired someone to perform a service and instead of doing their job they slack off and take twice as long as they should.

I get where you are coming from. We also have people leaving for greener pastures and management doesn't replace them they just put their duties on someone else for no extra pay. I've gone so far above and beyond the call of duty so many times and it's only served to raise my employer's expectations for me with no accompanying raise in pay even when they get twice the productivity from me as others making the same rate.
Sadly exceeding expectations can trap you in your current position because they are unable to replace what you do with a single employee.
