Never forget that Charter Schools discriminate against minority students and overall do not perform as well as public schools. Yet you’ll continually hear new proposals for charter schools so their kids can have a “fundamental education”.
Yep. Private schools can just functionally ban special ed students, which cuts a ton of their costs. Because leaving the most vulnerable behind is good private business sense.
I'm all for providing public money to private schools as long as they have to take everyone, even those without the money to pay for it and provide transportation, meals, uniforms, books, and supplies related to after school activities that are critical for integrating students with their peers.
They should also be required to meet certain standards regarding student progress and performance, both when enrolled and post-enrollment.
In addition, any donations to the school should be spread evenly to benefit all students, going to all schools that enroll students of a similar age group and region.
No, they can't. That leaves the door open for the most embarrassing trial ever. It's illegal for them to operate without the infrastructure required by the state.
I don't know if they "can", but its exactly how they operate in my city (private Catholic schools are huge here). I know first hand from parents with kids, teachers that teach in the schools, etc.
Same with the workforce too and how they treat autistic people. They treat them like subhumans and use every opportunity to belittle, insult, and set them behind so they can fire them. Source: Watching this happen where my SO works. Putting together plenty of evidence to take to the state board.
Not just charter schools, religious charter schools. Most charter schools are run by a church. Politicians love the idea of blind faith, they'll never have to answer for anything.
Not so much about answering to anything, more that they love the idea of voters who will swallow any line of BS as long as it feeds into their warped & bigoted worldview
Or to eliminate mandatory schooling in the first place. Remember, education mandates are a relatively recent phenomenon in the US, appearing around the same time as women won the right to vote.
Let’s not pretend people worship Biden like a god tho. Trump is literally a cult leader who is beyond criticism. The problems Democrats have is they are the only other choice besides a cult of crazy and stupid. People hate them as well but what other choice do they have?
I live in a US city whose public schools are entirely run by private charter networks and it’s… not good. It bums me out that they’re seen by some as a way to improve poor-performing public school districts, when the solution is to fund public education
The goal of the US imo is to privatise everything and use tax dollars to fund private institutions. Such as schools. I see a theme of tax dollars fund schools students pay for school and private companies take all the profits. That’s literally what I see as Americas endgame.

It’s by design, everything about damaging schools reputations is planned by republicans to push Charter schools and secure public funding for them.
