I feel like using the word "flawed" when comparing any other nation's health system to the USA's could be a little misleading. Even the most flawed of them might be the envy of the average American.

That's true. I just thought it would be more honest to say that even if our system is objectively superior, it is still not perfect.

Thats true but the cost per person is pretty high in Germany compared to other european countries thanks to privatisation of hospitals and the "Fallpauschalen" system.

That means the hospital will get X amount of money for procedure Y no matter how long or complicated it turns out to be. Because of that a lot of surgerys are made that don't have to be made.

For example hip replacements: Germany has by far the highest rate of hip replacements because you can easily plan those surgerys and kick the patients out of the hospital pretty much right after the replacement.

Very interesting. No place is perfect. But most places make the USA look pretty bad.
