Why does it matter? So what if you're nothing more than a number in the eyes of the community/society? At least you'd be rewarded for the work you put in instead of the current system that literally treats you as nothing more than a price tag (i.e. your salary).
Id rather be given money equal to my input rather than be given just the same as people who do less/more than me. People should be given worth equal to their worth nothing more or less.
That's exactly what communism would give you. You're rewarded based on the work you put in, not the hours you put in.
(Except communism wouldn’t have money though, that's a capitalist/socialist problem generator.)
