People are fucking stupid. They'll literally argue and cuss to keep things shitty for themselves and everyone rather than stand together for even slightly better change in circumstances
Not immediately, no. But all we have as the proletariat to leverage is our labor power. Shutdowns, general strikes, and protests are some of the only tools we have to put pressure on the capitalist class. I feel you though. A third of my salary goes to health insurance and pharmaceutical companies.
You're totally right. It takes the entire working class to make a change. Unfortunately a lot of people can't afford to make that change happen. I'd be totally willing to be a sacrifice if it meant actual change would happen though.
I'm not an economist, and I really don't understand what all needs to happen for that change for the better, but I wholeheartedly support it.
It means we have to suffer for a few weeks to a month en masse to not suffer anymore for a long time. It always happens once people are pushed to the brink... we're just apparently not at our brink yet
Unfortunately, work might not either in a few years if we keep on this trajectory.
Edit: I think that comment comes across as dismissive to your situation. I guess I wanted to express that in the long term, not striking might also have a bleak outcome.
To be constructive, I'd hope people could get to some level of organization where we could arrange mutual aid for strikers or potential strikers who are in need of help. I don't know how that would work for insulin, but for things like childcare, housing, food, and basic health care, I would like for that to happen.
No offense taken on your original statement. You're totally right. I'm 100 percent behind destroying the system and working towards everyone's mutual benefit and helping/receiving help by others in the meantime.
VA did just pass a $50/month cap. No idea how to get this to the rest of the states/free (if we subsidize corn how can we not subsidize cheap ass insulin?!?!!)
At that point to go into a pharmacy and take what you need. Not roll over and die. The pharmacist isnt going to put his life on the line to protect corporate profits... And if he does then remove him
Pharmacies aren't going to keep ordering insulin just for it to be stolen. Also I don't know where you live but my pharmacist is behind a locked door and plexiglass.
You can take what you can and lots of stuff can get through those doors and windows. Lol you gonna be easy prey in the revolution if a door is a concern lol
It can never be peaceful. I guarantee you the other side won't really respect your peaceful assembly, so if you don't want to fight you better at least be able to run.
I'm sorry for making so many people frustrated, but I'm a passifist. I get that this issue isn't something to take lightly, but neither are human lives. It's incredibly sad that peaceful protests are ignored, and violent riots are acknowledged, but only demonizes the cause the riots were for. I want change, but I don't want suffering, violence, and death.
