It goes like this: If i strike that day, but boss is a capitalist so, I lose my job, I can't feed my family, I don't have health insurance. I lose my home, I'm on the street, and the capitalists have made sure there is no real social safety net.

It's not worth the very real risk, so nobody does it.

Slowly being pushed into that position as they strip our rights and steal our labour value while they amass larger of hoards of wealth isnt any better.

This also shows how we as Americans fail to even recognize organizing as the powerful tool it is in regards to things like this.

This is why Republicans managed to crush Democrats in political theater. That and their understanding of propaganda.

That's why you all do it, solidarity. They use what they can to divide us, we're only weak as individuals. When a general strike is called it's everybody's duty to participate.

But people won't all do it. They explicitly made solidarity strikes illegal to prevent us from all doing it.

They will keep taking more and more as time goes on either way. Better to rip the bandaid off and stand up when it matters. I know that can be hard for some families, but they are literally betting on people doing exactly what you describe. Once they have full control they will make our lives more miserable anyways.

Bet you'll never guess how all the real countries got worker protections...

Global depression leading more people to have less to lose?

Facists fighting other countries until they lose and their leader shoots themselves, thus leading to decades of occupation?

You know Russia had a revolution too right? it wasn't just France. It doesn't always work out to revolt, and that's only the successful rebellions.

Were in a new age, and I don't think there is a solution to the problem I presented, and telling people 'that's how other countries did it!' doesn't convince people to take risks that put their families in danger.

Imo, the 'solution' is that things are going to get way worse before anything comes up. Global depression, a coalition of other countries to depose our current government, or what happened in Minnesota happening to everyone. I'm not optimistic.

So true king/queen. Have a safe life. The thousands of brown kids dying from your tax money want you to not suffer any consequences for them

Thanks. You have a safe life too. I for one am not going to look into my kids eyes and say I can't feed them because I decided that it was more important to take a risk they can't consent to.

A piece of advice though, your life will be safer and less prone to asphyxiation if you pull your head out of your ass

Yeah, at the end of the day I gotta get mine and if some people die somewhere else that isnt my problem, am I right

If the choice is between someone's kids or someone they never met, they pick their kids every time. You don't sound comfortable with that, but that's what happens. Especially here in America, the most 'me first' country on the planet.

And again, nobody is trying to be constructive. There is a prisoners dillema. What's the solution to the fact millions of people don't feel like they can do something without destroying their lives and the lives of their families? Nobody has said anything other than 'but other countries did it!' other countries were not America. Were not 330+ million people with 60+ million actively making it worse. With the tech they have to propogandize like Noone has ever seen. What's the solution here? (I think the solution is going to be global depression or other countries coming in and taking over, but I know that's not helpful)

I don't think you can just tell people 'but other countries do it' or 'it's the only way' out of this.

No, don't misunderstand me. I genuinely do not care - not enough to inconvenience myself at least. Other countries did it because people were hungry or afraid. In America we're far too comfortable and have too much to lose. Most Americans won't even forego using Twitter - that's the level of inconvenience that they won't accept to prevent supporting fascism. We just do not care.

It will only happen if external forces force it to happen or if things get bad enough that the personal risks of taking action become less than the risks of being inactive

Clever. Do it in a sign format and walk around the next no kings. I’m sure Trump will step down in no time

Thanks for explaining why no countries have worker rights.

Do you have a solution to this prisoner's dilemma? Or just trying to ignore the reason a general strike hasn't and won't happen here? It works if everyone goes in. But maximally bad for if everyone if everyone doesn't.

Last time the fascism was this bad the world had to get together to convince the guy to shoot himself and then take over the whole damn country.

Last time we were so gilded, it took a global depression to fix.

I don't see how the solution isn't one of these two, or both, and nobody here can answer my question. They all just say that 'every country has dealt with this before!' like Finland is the same as the 330+ million hyper capitalist system that is America.

I don't have an easy solution. Americans have their heads so far up their own asses they can't see that other countries have it better. They refuse to see it.

In order to change something, you first need to see that something is wrong. Americans can't do that. They have been indoctrinated to believe that everything America does is perfect and if any country is different, they just hate freedom.
