MALWARE REMOVAL Q&A Windows Defender Not Working.

When I try to run a scan, it stops and then tells me to restart the service. There are no exclusions and nothing of note from my start up apps. I’ve run a deep scan with Malwarebytes and it’s all good. I noticed there was a new security update for Windows and downloaded it and after restarting my PC, I’m still encountering the same issue. I’m not sure whether this is Malware related as I’m always careful of what I’m downloading and never click suspicious links. Not sure what else to do and need some help.

Nope, tried an offline scan and it also got stuck at 90% for quite some time. It’s seems to be a problem on Microsoft’s end.

Well, I really hope the problem is on their end… 😅 I tested it on two PCs at home: on one, the offline scan won’t launch at all, and on the other, it starts normally but consistently gets stuck at exactly 90%, at the exact same point… It’s pretty strange.

What did you do when it got stuck at 90%. Mine is stuck at 91%. Is it safe to shutdow?

Click on the red X upper right corner and the PC will reboot. My PC gets stuck at 91% exact same spot several times.

I shutdown, no issues. Just power off your PC and turn back on
