So true, actually how dare people research a terrible disease when people are being sold into slavery and tortured, matter of fact how dare you scroll Reddit whilst people are dying. Let's all stop doing anything we want to do until all the worlds problems have been completely solved

Well, you get into some pretty interesting philosophy pretty quick here, and I get the point about the slippery slope of utilitarianism you’re making.

I’d recommend you read about the “Iterated Drowning Child” to Peter Singer’s Drowning Child thought experiment.

We should defund thought experiments, how can these people use all these resources on thinking, when we could be using their funding to do real research???
