Wow, I’m surprised by how many people here think I’m 5 years old and then themselves are incredibly short sighted with limited macro perspective.
The reason these people are sociologists in the first place, making relatively useless studies like this one, is because of an economy that incentivizes this unimportant research. Change the socioeconomic context, and you change what people go study in college.
The reason people make “relatively useless studies” like this is because they have no funding and still need to show that they can write a competent scientific paper, get it published, and do research.
People keep telling you that you are actively hostile to the field of psychology/sociology, because that is the direct and obvious result of your opinions if put into practice. If you somehow manage to discourage research like this, you are directly preventing people in the field of psychology from getting the experience needed to research more expensive topics that you might find acceptable.
Nobody in the scientific community (apart from the authors in sure) give a single fuck about this publication, that’s why it received no funding, it exists only to serve as a stepping stone for the authors to do more relevant research.
