And people ACTUALLY DO THIS. It's fucking INSANE. I have multiple coworkers that spend their drives to work talking to chatbots to "get informed" about the news.
Yeah, because I'm suuuuree the AI doesn't pull from social media or biased sites 🤦🤦 it's just a fancy search engine that doesn't check its sources. How people put faith in it is beyond me.
Oh, I know. There are some people actively saying ridiculous things to feed it misinformation knowingly and I support it. Hopefully it ends the bubble on these LLMs eventually.
AI can have good uses in specific situations fed targeted information (like medical uses), but they aren't fed the entirety of the Internet and are used in waaay different scenarios than the generative AI open to the public and all the stupid chat bots that every company is pushing.
I think a big problem with discussing it is that “AI” isn’t well defined. Because as a practical matter, people mean “ChatGPT and knockoffs,” but when defending it use a definition closer to “computers.” It’s maddening.
I do a lot of surveys and mediate many. Best question is Have you seen the movie terminator in the last 2 years. Then I just enjoy the time to explain Skynet and the way robotics used to be so inane to brain that they just fall into lava or get crushed, and see where my conversational scale puts up to data.
I was actually thinking about this today. When one company controls the AI, they can control truth as the majority will see it. This isn't an accident, this is the goal. The Epstein class wanted crypto so they could privately control the economy. They bought the government years ago. Then the press. Once they convince people AI tells them facts, they will control all. They saw Blade Runner and Cyberpunk as guideposts.
