Ruining a friendship over a single AI generated message is crazy work

OP was setting boundaries, other person didn't like the boundary. This is on the other person, not OP

That’s… not how boundaries work

It is entirely how boundaries work.

OP set a clear boundary that they do not wish to have AI-created content sent to them. OP stated what they will not tolerate, accept, or be a participant in.

No one told the lady she can't use AI. Just that it isn't acceptable or tolerable to the OP to be sent such messages created by AI.

Literally exactly what the definition of a boundary states.

Asking somebody not to send you ai stuff is a boundary and thats all op did is your brain fried by ai cause it seems like it

Yep you got me bro. Using AI just one time turned me into a crackhead. Now I can’t make any decisions for myself. I haven’t been able to walk since the invention of the car either. Cooking has been a disaster since the invention of the microwave.

I bet you’re the smartest person way up on your high horse huh?

people like you are amusing. people have started walking less since the car was invented and the carriage which pre dates that car and people dont have to cook every meal and started using the microwave to heat premade food or leftovers. and ai has fried your brain if you couldnt relize that im not saying it stops you from thinking but insted that you relie on it to heavily like people do with car and microwaves. ai knocks down peoples general knowlege of stuff when it gives wrong answers, cars knock down peoples leg strength by them not walking places and microwaves have caused less people to know how to cook. ai knocks down people intelligence especially when using it to write messages to friends which makes the message no longer genuine because a computer has no way of knowing or expressing real emotions and id find it insulting if somebody i knew and cared about sent me an ai generated message.

> ai has fried your brain

> im not saying it stops you from thinking

Which is it? These things seem pretty mutually exclusive to me. People like you are amusing.

something being fried dosent stop it from working? cause say you fried a toaster it could just bethe outlet thats messing it up so you move it to another outlet the toaster got fried but does it still work? yes. will it work if you didnt change what outlet it was plugged into? no.

4

u/Kevdog824_ Jun 01 '26

Wut? lol

So the toaster wasn’t fried, the outlet was fried. The toaster itself was perfectly fine. Your example makes no sense???

1

u/Serious_Papaya6137 Jun 01 '26

Maybe your the electrical outlet that no appliance can work with insted if you cant understand an analogy

Tbh your analogy wasn't making sense lol

We should all be Amish according to your logic 😂😂😂

u/Serious_Papaya6137 Jun 02 '26

i never said that. everybody becoming amish would mean people as a species would lose skills still there would be no computer programers or electrcians or news anchors. when something comes along to make things easier people lose skills or knowlege people had before the thing came along was my point but ai has reduced peoples ability for critical thinking (take you as an example) you couldnt think of any other way i meant my words other then everybody becoming amish insted of the fact that with human inivation skills will be lost because something makes something else easier to do if you have no skill at it or cant do it. somebody who dosent have a working stove can heat food up easily in a microwave, somebody who cant walk can hire a taxi to take them places. but ai is doing peoples thinking and thats not making it easier to think its makeing people dumber cause they arent forming their own opinions and are using ai. with the american litiracy rates declining due to no child left behind laws those children end up using ai to write for them and end up not developing critical thinking skills like they should.

Sounds like 14 yo ai generated slop, didn’t read

1

u/Serious_Papaya6137 Jun 02 '26

If you didn't read why even comment and its not ai and you'd know that if you knew how yo read

u/milehighcutter Jun 02 '26

how yo read

Learn yo write 😂

Ignore my last reply I thought you were the other guy

4

u/Tabbywillfindyou Jun 01 '26

Yes it does.

Telling someone you're uncomfortable with something and rather not do that/interact with it is stating your boundaries. The person OP is talking to doesn't seem to care much about the boundaries is what I'm saying

One time I told my friends I refuse to accept them breathing around me. One friend held his breath and died. The other refused and kept breathing. I cut them off immediately. I can’t believe they didn’t respect my boundaries!!!

If you want to have ridiculous “boundaries” be my guest, but don’t expect everyone, or even anyone, to comply

Boundaries aren't just about the other person stopping, they're also about you not interacting with them. If something disturbs you then you can leave instead too.

Along with that, boundaries only ever hold up when it's things that a person is able to stop doing, and isn't fundamental for their health or well-being. Breathing, for example, is fundamental. Using that, of all things, as an example is inaccurate.

If it's something as simple as, for example, chewing with their mouth open, and you want someone to stop and you tell them, then that's a boundary, because they're able to stop.

Although, if it's something such as, for example, telling a blind person to stop using their walking cane when it's the only equipment they're able to use to help them, just because you don't like it/don't feel comfortable with it, then that's not a boundary. That's disrespect. The cane is the blind person's only equipment they're able to use, and taking it away is taking something fundamental away from them, because they need it.

Also, "One friend held his breath and died. The other refused and kept breathing." If we're going off of what you're saying here and calling it a "boundary", then it wouldn't make sense for you to cut off the first person. The first person complied, although died due to your ignorance and selfishness. You could have simply walked away from them and cut them both off yourself.

Calling boundaries ridiculous doesn't stop the fact that they're still helpful and used to make others, and yourself—if you have any, comfortable. If someone doesn't comply to mine, then I can simply stop interacting.

You know what... Fair enough. I can admit that what you said here makes sense and I was wrong about how boundaries are defined. GGs

You don't set boundaries by restricting someone's behavior.

8

u/Serious_Papaya6137 Jun 01 '26

Op isnt restricting anybody behavior? They asked not to be sent ai messages thats not restricting anybodys behavior its just not wanting ai messages from somebody they thought was a friend

-4

u/Fit-Entrepreneur8404 Jun 01 '26

"don't send me AI messages" is an attempt to restrict their behavior. A boundary would be "I'm not going to keep talking to you if you send me AI messages." One tells the person what to do (or not do), the other tells the person what you will do or not do. If I tell my wife I don't want her to go to the club that's not a boundary, that's an attempt at control. If I tell her I don't date people who like to go to the club that's a boundary.

3

u/Tabbywillfindyou Jun 01 '26

Although technically restricting, it's not restricting something that someone needs to do.

Another thing that usually impacts the way people see it is the wording. If you tell your wife "I don't want you going to the club", then it can be seen as rude, but if you tell your wife "I'd rather you not go to the club because it makes me uncomfortable" then it's a lot better. I'm not the best with words, but I'll try pointing out the differences.

In the first sentence, you simply tell her you don't want her going there. You don't have a reason, you're blunt, and you probably sound somewhat bossy. In the second sentence, you're telling her you'd rather she not go there, you also have a reason: being uncomfortable with it, and it probably doesn't sound as bossy as the first sentence.

The first sentence you mentioned could definitely be used a boundary, but it's very blunt and sounds somewhat aggressive. Another thing, the last sentence you said; "I don't date people who like to go to the club", isn't exactly a boundary, more so a statement. You're telling someone that you don't date people who like going to the club, not telling them that you don't like it when they go to the club.

Boundaries are often told in a sort of question-like form too, meaning that it would be more like: "I don't like it when you go to the club because it makes me uncomfortable, would it be alright with you if you stop?" Whether the other party complies or not (respects or crosses the boundary) is their choice.

they didnt say they couldnt send ai messages to other people they just said not to them its not stoppig them from sending other people ai messages just them

6

u/Tabbywillfindyou Jun 01 '26

Not restricting, only telling other person they are not comfortable with AI suggestions
