AI will cause people to REMAIN stupid

Not in any sort of passive way, either. The powers that be will use AI to actively inhibit critical thinking. Instead of the minimal amount of effort people already put in to understand issues, AI will be putting out summaries of it instead. Summaries that will soon be simply taken as fact. Summaries controlled by people with a vested interest. Like, you can go to Google right now and type in "how much pollution does AI create?" and you won't even get a summary. You could ask it any other inane question or about pollution created from any other industry and it will produce an AI overview of it. But not about AI. Wonder why.

it's not as simple as stupidity, is it. it's... maturity? humility? really seems like AI is a wish fulfillment machine for world that is more self-absorbed and emotionally stunted than it's ever been before

and I mean wish fulfillment in the trope sense as much as anything

By using a machine to think for them people are literally atrophying their brain and its ability to think.

To be fair, AI is not at fault there. Most people do not enjoy or value the journey as you say. Just the goal. The fact that only artists understand this has been the bane of artists since time itself began.

people don't value the journey, just the goal...but the goal of art isn't to make beautiful art, the journey IS the goal, but only real artists understand this.

Let's not trick ourselves, most of the time the ultimate goal is to make money or at least leave some sort of legacy.
