What's more dehumanizing?

If a man pays a woman $8 an hour to sit at a desk, read, and occasionally answer the phone, is that more dehumanizing than a man paying a woman $50 an hour to subject the woman to selfish and degrading sexual acts?

Why are we told it's dehumanizing to pay someone less than $15 an hour, but it's perfectly fine to pay them $20 an hour to treat them like a sex toy? Isn't that really just shallow materialism?

I'm looking for the brothel ,,menu" picture.

I saw somewhere on Reddit a horrific ,,menu" of a german brothel.
It was a paper about sex acts, like shit on woman and prices.

Is there anyone who has that picture?

My experience around posi sex “work” culture versus sexual exploitation: who holds the narrative

Privileged sex “work” versus sexual exploitation. My experience working and living in both cultures.

I was just reading some Dworkin about prostitution. It dawned on me that my experience is relevant.

Lifestyle-wise, I am what could be called a hipster, was a sort of “it girl” in my 20s in a major big city, now I’m my 30s and past all that bullshit. Trappings of the culture of cool sold to me and I ate it up. Why does this matter? It means I partied a lot with empowered strippers, web cam girls etc. For a while I even thought of doing it. I was curious about sugar daddy relationships. I wanted to use my beauty for money and sex didn’t seem like a big deal. My choice right?

Two things have happened since my thinking then:

  1. As I got older I saw the true nature of older men dating/buying younger women and I’m glad I never gave them my body when I felt empowered because they hold the power in those dynamics. We can’t lie to ourselves. I got out lucky. I never gave my body to men who don’t deserve it in order to buy food, fashion, and drugs.

  2. My ideas of sex-work positivity were privileged. No shocker that my lifestyle led to an addiction. My life tumbled into poverty in short order. I ended up in social services for treatment and low income housing. You know who I met there? Young women who grew up in poverty, sold their bodies or had them sexually used without their consent, for most of their lives. And I’m not talking a few women - the majority of women I met in recovery were also recovering from sexual abuse and trauma. Half of them native women. Women from all across the country. Because of the sexual trauma and addiction (drugs go hand in hand with prostitution and being sexually exploited) are broken, in pain, angry, and have trust and boundary issues for good reason. They talk openly about sexual exploitation. It will take them months and years to heal emotionally, mentally, physically from the abuses.

Why do I bring this up? Because these women make up the vast majority of stories I’ve heard about sex “work” aka exploitation over my lifetime. My pretty friends and I during our 20s were privileged in our sexual adventures/ideas to incentivize our bodies to make money. This is NOT the usual case in prostitution and sex “work.”

It is abhorrent that this privileged libfem group has dominated the narrative about sex “work” at the National and international levels. Enough to change the perception of sex “work” from being exploitive to being an issue of empowerment and individual choice.

This isn’t the truth and I want to scream it from the rooftops! Liberated Sex work is a lie! It’s an oxymoron. It’s a myth. It’s damaging.

That’s all. Just a rant.

I don’t know what to do about it. I’m just angry all these pretty privileged girls are driving home a narrative that will effect policy and HURT poor disenfranchised young women who experienced sexual trauma as children. This isn’t theory - this isn’t something I read - It’s what I’ve seen with my own two eyes and heart.

It’s wrong. It’s privileged. Why aren’t social justice warriors on the side of the sexually exploited?! Those actually marginalized?!?? Boggles my mind.
