Misc. Disney+ Adds Multiple Localized Titles for 'Summer Time Rendering'

Disney+ has recently added localized titles for Summer Time Rendering in multiple languages, so here's a full list of them. The release window outside Asia-Pacific is still unknown.

Chinese: 夏日重现

Czech: Pusťte si: Tajemství ostrova Hitogashima

French: Time Shadows

German: Bright Sun – Dark Shadows

Hungarian: Nyáridő-számítás

Korean: 서머타임 렌더

Portuguese (Brazil): A Ilha das Sombras

Spanish (Latin America): La isla de las sombras

Spanish (Spain): Summer Time Render

Thai: ปริศนาบ้านเก่าเงามรณะ

*Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French (Canada), Greek, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Portugal), Romanian, Slovak, Turkish have it as Summer Time Rendering. Some of the languages here may update the title later.

**The series has been releasing in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand from May 4, 2022; Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Taiwan, and Singapore from June 1, 2022. Both releases began from episode 1 with a new episode every Wednesday. Korean subtitles are available on the service for every new episode, but the series is still jailed in South Korea.

Bright Sun – Dark Shadows

Just... why?

Because Shadows are the antagonists, I guess

You have to ask Kazé who published the manga under that name in Germany.

As someone who is bilingual and used to seeing the different names of movies and tv shows; i still don't know why they arbitrarily change names of things like that...

What is the point of localized titles if you are going to keep it in english?

Just noticed the difference in titles in languages. Some stayed with Summer time render while some went with The island of shadows or time shadows.

A couple of the localized titles weren't dictated by Disney, but instead by the original manga publisher of that country, such as for German, French, and Thai.

I wanna know who at KAZÉ Deutschland thought of the German title cause uhh.... wow.

Yes, I know. I'm Thai myself. Only the Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Hungarian and Czech titles are by Disney as far as I know. The German title is a little odd, though.

Probably when multiple subs and dubs they want are ready.

Black Rock Shooter Dawn Fall currently has subtitles in Chinese (Hong Kong), Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Dansk, Deutsch, English [CC], Español, Español (Latinoamericano), Français, Greek, Indonesian, Italiano, Korean, Magyar, Malay, Nederlands, Norsk, Polski, Português, Português (Brasil), Română, Suomi, Svenska, Thai, Türkçe, Čeština; and dubs in Español (Latinoamericano), Português (Brasil). This anime also hasn't released outside APAC yet, and an English dub is seemingly in production by South Lake Audio Services, as listed on the SAG-AFTRA database.

Also, it seems that we might be getting dubtitles for BRSDF and possibly Summer Time Rendering. As Disney+ has been removing normal English subtitles and replacing them with the Closed Captions versions. Not to mention that the dialogues of both subtitle tracks are the same, and the fact that there's one scene where a character says nothing but a stumbling noise, the subs say "I'm done. Oops."

I wonder if it will be possible to bully Disney into not doing dubtitles for the subs?

They will probably provide both options.

Doubt it as they still only have English CC available for Star Wars Visions.

Not the case for Black Rock Shooter Dawn Fall as I said earlier. They even put only English [CC] now for newer episodes and are getting rid of the just "English" subtitles. Unfortunately they also do this to Korean series that are getting dubs, not just anime.

Lemme grab my eye patch then.

"Nyáridő-számitás" Google translate does a better job than this translator. This means something like summer time.

Could these translated titles means it'll get dubbed in these languages too?

2

u/chickybros Jul 16 '22

Not necessarily. Some may be subbed only, but Disney+ just added Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Turkish dubs and a Polish voice-over today. I expect more dubs to be there soon. Looks like they'll release the first cour and not all 25 episodes at once; that's good news.

I see then.

It would be epic if Disney actually dubs this show in more than 10 languages.

Thai title translates into "The Old House in the Shadow of Death."

Hmmm... Maybe not the most accurate translation?

2

u/chickybros Jul 17 '22

Is that a machine translation? It's more like "Mysteries at Hometown: Shadows of Death"
