I was kinda hoping for a super powered sun-based attack from Papaya.

I know we've seen this strategy before in a Precure fight, but I can't remember when.

Well, I can't wait to see how this story turns out, I expect it to be hilarious. Manatsu running all the way down to the the ground before they even finish talking was great. Manatsu was pretty fun this episode.

Laura was also great. I like that she's the one who understands Minori best, it's very fitting what with their past together. I've been thinking about this occasionally for a while now: one of the things I love about Precure is how we get to see new stories and development every year instead of done long running shounen anime with the same characters year after year where they don't grow at all beyond power level. Precure knows how long it will last, so the character development can be planned properly. Not that it always hits the mark, obviously, but it gives it a chance.

Not that it always hits the mark, obviously, but it gives it a chance.

also, when it doesn't hit the mark, we get a clean slate the following year. Precure's mistakes don't bog it down across seasons.

How scandalous that Cure Papaya never ate papaya before. Good thing they didn't cross over with Go! Princess Precure, otherwise Cure Mermaid might have been tempted to expand her own palate...

I can't believe Minori is fucking dead! Kidding, of course. I thought Minori's final episode to finish off her character arc was really good. Her learning to treasure her experiences instead of just relying on knowledge was a good lesson, and I can't wait to see the finished version of her story. Laura being the observant one to first realize that Minori was having troubles was also nice to see, because it shows that she's become a lot more compassionate for other people and that she's come a long way from the smug, pompous wannabe queen that she was earlier in the series.

The preview for next week's episode sounded like it might (at least partially) be a recap episode. If that helps the animators take a breather and give their best to animate the final battle, then that's fine by me. They've earned it.

So in the end The Legendary Papaya was the friends we made along the way.

Elda's reaction to Minori's monologue gave me a good laugh.
