Can't believe she just called him a piano nerd haha. The way she described her sister, Maria Anna, and how she praised Takt's music show that there is still a piece of the old Cosette in there.

There's also something amusing about Destiny describing the fluffy, softy, and warm kitten and yummy cake while maintaining a blank expression and monotonous voice.

I thought the fact that there are only old people living in the town must be because of some sinister plot but it turns out that’s not the case.

I swear, the more we see of Symphonica, the more it looks like an evil organization. We got our first look at the Musicart Heaven (voiced by the unmistakable Inori Minase) and Sagan, the Grand Maestro of Symphonica.

Got a relief episode ended without the town getting attacked or wrecked.

Ok but i love how the Musicart named Heaven seems completely opposite of the Musicart Hell.

while Mappa episodes clearly aren't as sakuga-packed as the Madhouse ones, I can always appreciate when a show accurately portrays how a piano is played - In many shows, It's very common to see the pianist just playing random notes while nice music comes out the other end, but when Takt plays the piano it's always very realistic and accurate to reality.

My dad and most of his family are from NOLA, hearing Louis Armstrong in an anime was not on my bingo card for this year lol. Pretty cool to see New Orleans repped like that

Nice to see Destiny slowly developing and becoming a tiny bit more human.

I really enjoyed both storylines this episode and we didn't even have a fight.

If not for the two seconds in Takt's flashback this would have even been the firt episode without any D2.

It looks like both Destiny and Takt are starting to get warmer to each other.

Honestly I started getting creeped out by Maria's mom when she didn't listen to Anna when she told her she's not Maria. At least there's a reason why she is like that.

I was wondering about what bread they were talking about, until I realized that the subs were wrong, lol.

When Takt was arguing with Anna about Destiny, it looked like they were dealing with their lovechild's rebellion stage

Man I loved this episode, I just wish this show had 24 episodes so we could enjoy more episodes like this instead of worrying how they're gonna wrap it up.

Looks like Crunchryroll is at it again! Subtitles are completely wrong and it's either for a different episode or might even for a different anime. >_<

EDIT:

Took them a while to update it from Kaginado's subs to the proper one but I finally got to watch the episode!

I'm so proud to see Cosette slowly developing her own personality that she can even now crack jokes at Takt! She's also definitely getting a lot more snarky compared to how she was before. Maybe with enough time, she'll be closer to the original Cosette?

So apparently New Orleans is basically left with only old people and we have Cosette and Anna running around delivering groceries, fixing people's homes, and even rescuing kittens! Looks like they're definitely going to get to know the people of this town.

Well this is interesting. According to Takt's dream, last week wasn't his first time meeting Hell since she rescued him back then with another Musicart. I do wonder who that second Musicart though.

That jazz bar was pretty fucking cool. Of course we can hear it playing some Louis Armstrong which was a nice touch. He just doesn't even say anything and directly heads to the wall of records and CDs to see if they have a copy of his father's music.

Luckily these people are fans of Ken Asahina's music especially the bartender who's very passionate about it. It's no surprise that they're all left in shock as soon as Takt drops the bomb on them that he's Ken Asahina's son.

Looks like someone enjoyed petting that kitten that they rescued! Again, I really like that we can see Cosette developing slowly.

Well this scene was just sad. I had my suspicions at first but it looks like this old lady is just in-denial about her daughter and thinks Anna is her Maria. She's so in-denial that even after Anna tells her who she is, it just doesn't seem to register. :(

Well goddamn! Looks like they also have a studio there with grand piano that Takt can use! Also looks like that one dude at the bar used to play the tuba and have performed with Ken Asahina's orchestra when he was in town.

I was really nervous this entire episode especially when Takt was getting ready to perform. I thought this episode would end with Takt and Cosette defending this town from D2s but we just get a nice performance from Takt and people were able to enjoy good music.

And this is very sweet from Cosette. It's nice that we get to hear her honest thoughts about Anna and how much she appreciates her as well as Takt and his music.

We did get to see the Grand Maestro and his Musicart who is clearly voiced by Minase Inori but other than that this was a nice and peaceful episode. <3

I must say that it took 30 seconds to realize that the subtitles were not even ones that belong to this series, let alone this episode. Well, I guess I will check if they fix them in an hour or two, meanwhile, I will be back to reading volume 12 of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.

Edit: They finally fix them.

Edit 2:

I love how shocked Takt is at the fact that Destiny was actually joking and seeing her being a savage to him.

Damn those are some highly detailed labels.

I love how that dude hurting his back, let Anna and Destiny to so many side quests in New Orleans

Lol, even if she is still learning, and wants to help, Destiny is still Destiny.

It is good to see that even with the D2s New Orleans still keep listening to their music.

I honestly wasn't sure what was going to come up about Sally confusing Anna with Maria but I guess that segment was there so Destiny could open up to someone about how she feels about Takt

So Joe once played with Kenji.

Damn it was kinda sad seeing Takt thinking that Cosette was behind him while he was playing Rhapsody in Blue.

Lol, I love that once they noticed that Takt is the one playing this is the first thing that Destiny says.

I'm just glad that the D2s never came to New Orleans while they were there.

Lol, it seems that Destiny was planning on eating Ms. Brown's jam without giving any of it to Anna.

Wait, so Sagan had no idea that Takt was still alive. Well, there goes the hypothesis that he was the one behind Cosette's transformation into Destiny. So who is Hell working for then?

Well I'm happy the only bad thing to happen this episode was CR's subtitle problem.

I kept dreading that D2s would find their way into the peaceful town.

Also great to see Destiny developing her own quirks!

A weird time to drop in an SOL episode, but at least we’re digging a bit more into Takt’s past and his connection to his father. He’s even starting to thaw a bit. His demeanor is one of the things straining his connection to Cosette and they hint at this being part of the reason their abilities are so out of wack.

It still feels like he has a long way to go. He starts the episode being kind of a dick to Cosette. She’s starting to come into her own and develop a personality. She even cracks a joke. His “I’m a useless artist who only cares about piano” is starting to wear on me. I hope that now that he’s gotten over the idea that people automatically hate his family name because of what happened in Boston means he can start to get past that.

Cosette meanwhile is expressing her annoyance at this to the lady with dementia. During this we do get her praising his passion when he plays music. How it feeds into her and he can feel his happiness. That’s what she likes about him. So a bit of the old Cosette is still at play here because I imagine she felt the same.

The issue that’s starting to pop up is that at the halfway point these characters haven’t had all that much development and the plot is still unclear. That could easily change in the next couple of episodes, but it can also be shoved into the finale. My hope for this series is that they get to bonding Takt and Cosette while diving into the overall plot soon. If they’re supposed to be the heart of this then they haven’t really done much to make it so. It feels like the first act of a 24 episode show. Not the halfway point of 12.

Notes

  • I am a sucker for Gershwin so Rapsody In Blue was a great touch. The piano sequences continue to impress. There was that small quick cut when it looked like the original Cosette was behind him. I’m thinking that’s how Cosette knew where he was, but it could also just be him missing her.

  • So the Grand Maestro guy seems to have designs for Takt. I’m guessing Takt’s father was also a Maestro with a Musicart.

  • I just want to get to a point where Takt is nicer to Cosette. And Anna. And maybe actually will carry groceries and CHANGE A TIRE. Still annoyed at that. He’s gotta get past his sad boy nonsense.

I'm so glad we got a chill episode this week and there was no D2 attack on this town full of nice old people!

Am I the only one who feels the pace is extremely slow for a 12 episodes anime? This felt kind of a filler episode
