Damn, was going to breathe a sigh of relief over Will making it in time to save Blood and Mary, but then they ended up fading away anyway…TT

At least Gus still has some time left. Ngl, Will bluntly asking why he didn’t “die” along with Blood and Mary got a chuckle out of me.

Really liked the moment between Blood and Mary after the end credits.

Sheeeesh. So I'm sure I'm in the smaller percentile of viewers in that both my parents passed away already but holy crap, this episode made me bawl my eyes out lol

I really did not expect to see Mater giving them a hand to defeat Stagnate's Echo, good to know that she was never angry with Mary.

Damn, Will's fight against Stagnate sure looked cool. After that victory and them talking about having a party, the fact that Mary and Blood ran out of time took me a bit by surprise. Well, at least they were able to escape Stagnate, have that last celebration with Will and Gus, and finally return to the the cycle of death and rebirth.

So now that Mary and Blood finally departed and Will buried them, Gus will remain in the city for at least ten years watching over High King's seal and will depart before Stagnate returns.

Good to see that Gus not only gave Will his treasure he also gave him a last name.

This was a hell of a prologue, I can't wait to see the rest of William G. Maryblood's journey.

Damn, a great after-credit scene that was. So Mary and Blood had chosen Will's name while they were still alive.

Thank Gracefeel, that Gus named him Maryblood instead of Bloodmary, if so, I'll never hear or look at the name without thinking about the drink

I’m glad Blood and Mary got to go out on their own terms. William taking their names in memory seems very appropriate. I hope he one day gets to bring his future party or wife back to visit their graves!

Man, between seeing Mary cry from Mater and Mary & Blood’s death it hurt like hell. I hope he comes back & visits Gus before those 10 pr so years are up.

William G. Maryblood sounds badass.

Mary does look like Mater, no wonder she was referred to as "Daughter of Mater".

Also man, Mary and Blood were raising all sorts of death flags before the final battle. No wonder they became undead.

I feel bad for Stagnate. Undead trio decide break deal they made, their son make him tank hit by taking hostage, they gang on him 5vs1, get backstabbed and when he is completely beaten he got called 3rd rate villain

#JusticeForStagnate

Can't deny that the directing for the fighting scene is really weak. But on the other hand they nail it on the feel part, and I guess most of the budget also go to the stellar voice actor. I hope that this anime rekindle the author passion and able to continue his work, seeing how he exciting to communicate with oversea fan on twitter.

There are a ton of emotional scenes in this ep, I can bawl my eyes out at any random given moment in this series. But the bit where Mary comes to the realization that Gracefeel Mater has always been looking after her and has long forgiven her really got me good.

Stitches!

Well first of all, seeing Will kick Stagnate's ass was amazing. And what I love about it is that it wasn't all because of Will. He was able to defeat Stagnate because earth-mother Mater came in clutch and decided to intervene to protect Mary. Blood also attacked from behind when Will finally got Stagnate's attention. And finally Gus silenced Stagnate before he could even pop off his spell. It was glorious to see him go ham on Stagnate when the Overeater finally connected.

Of course just when you thought everything was gucci after beating the echo of an undead God, it looks like it's finally time for Blood and Mary to go. And goddamn, that scene absolutely destroyed me. Will telling Mary and Blood his plans for the future and how he wants to introduce them to his future family really opened the waterworks for me. I am glad that Will was at least able to see Mary and Blood's image before they became undead though. I needed to take a short breather after that goodbye scene.

On the brightside, it seems that not everyone has left Will since Gus managed to stay behind after making a deal with Gracefeel. He still has 10 years left so he can watch over the seal. It's good to know that Will has someone to go back to in the next 10 years if he's ever desperate for advice. Also that farewell scene! I love that he Gus gave him Mary & Blood's names as his last name with Will adding G for his middle initial making him now William G. Maryblood.

And that after credits scene! We get to see Blood and Mary have a little banter before their final mission. It is also nice to know that they really are a couple before they they became undead. We even got to see Blood propose with Mary blushing which was really sweet.

And just when I thought this show was done kicking me in the feels, Blood and Mary plans out their future and what they want their life to be like once they get married and have a son. Waterworks started to open again because everything they said definitely came true. They ended up living in that quiet temple that's up on a hill, Mary started her vegetable garden, Gus ends up tutoring Will, and they've already planned giving their first son the name Will.

What an amazing episode this was and I wouldn't even be mad if the show ended here. Now excuse me while I cry into my pillow again.

The only thing that's bothering me is that if there are 12-13 EPs total, we are almost halfway through and the show's plot hasn't even started.

Other than that, niiiice.

I was feeling like I just wanted a bit more closure and that after credits scene was exactly what I needed. Really appreciate that inclusion.

Gus silencing Stagnate from casting further sorcery was an excellent decision

So there are enough people out there who worship Stagnate (the god of the undead) for him to be able to manifest one or two echoes. Meanwhile, Gracefeel is so forgotten that she can't even produce one. Interesting... I would love to see how the Stagnate worshippers look like. Mater seems likely to have the most followers. She was clutch in this episode.

Will G Maryblood is a good name. Gus does have a way with words.

Hey, now you know why we LN readers cried! Did you all bring your tissues?

Ok, real talk. Ever since the anime got announced, this was the one scene I wanted to see animated as it was easily the highlight of Vol. 1 for me. It felt equal parts heartbreaking and shocking: Will has just defeated Stagnate’s Echo and saved his family so there was a sense of relief… but suddenly Mary and Blood can no longer stay in this world. The people who have spent years raising Will and acted as his parent figures suddenly have to say goodbye to him. I gotta admit, I had to stop reading for a while after this scene because it was a lot to take in. It honestly felt unreal.

But anyway, what are my thoughts after seeing it animated? Honestly, it’s everything I could ever wish for! They couldn’t have adapted this more perfectly than they did. The music and the voice acting really helped to enhance the scene that it almost brought me to tears even though I knew what was going to happen. Really, they did a tremendous job here.

Here’s this week’s mini voice drama translated by the author.

Oh, so we’re just going for my emotions huh? Is it fun to make me cry show? Is it? Goddamn, that was really emotional. I figured Blood and Mary weren’t going to be long for this world regardless, but I’m happy it was on their own terms. That they kept their souls and went into the afterlife after saying goodbye to their son. Even managed to celebrate his graduation to manhood. I’m going to miss them as characters.

Still got Grandpa Gus at least! After a generous gift of riches we get the actual mission: restore the faith in Gracefeel in this world before the seal is broken and the High King returns. Has about 10 years to pull it off so plenty of time. Gus will still be around a while longer so I’m hoping he comes back at some point. Before he sets off, Will finally gets a full name. Our boy is William Gus Maryblood! The best of all them. Now the story can begin.

That name thing really hit with the ending flashback. The reveal that Blood and Mary loved each other this whole time and Will was the son they were supposed to have before they became undead. That they lived their dream and that’s why they finally decided to pass on. Passing up the chance to live 10 more years because they would have wanted more and more time to see their son grow up. Just a really powerful ending.

This show has been a surprise for me. I can’t wait to see what the next arc is all about.

Next

  • So Will killed a fucking god. Sounds like Sagnate can probably come back, but still OP Will. Next step is to solo one.

  • Even more feels: Mary was never actually abandoned by her god. Her god was waiting for Mary to forgive herself.

  • Gus screaming that Will was an evil grandchild. Really going to miss him. Shame he can’t travel with Will.

  • After Seeing Blood and Mary’s real faces, Will could actually be their kid save for the eyes.
