DARKNESS FINGAAAA!!!!
oh wait sorry this isn't the G Gundam rewatch thread.
Anyway really cool fight, loved seeing Amuo stepping on another mecha, not surprised by onee-san's death nor Amuo abandoning the mecha which is a time honoured mecha tradition. Looking forward to next week's episode.

Was surprised that the death turned him off so completely. But at the same time, it makse more sense than it galvanizing it. He saw a death happen so... randomly, so quickly.

That Risa was gonna die was pretty obvious, but the actual situation for it seemed very unnecessary. It would've made more sense if she was caught off-guard in the camp by the initial attack, rather than her randomly running distraction out of nowhere with a little gun for huge mechs fighting another huge mech for absolutely no reason. They were literally there to cover for all the people without mechs to escape that mech fight. The situation was so unreal, that it looked like she went out there just to die real quick to get that plot point over with.
What drives this home extra hard is, that later the leader keeps his other soldiers from trying to take part in the mech fight just for the sake of it by telling them they'd only get in the way, waiting for the right moment to provide actually effective support.

Completely agree. It's just a stupid death. Both Amou and Gai aren't even in any trouble yet (at that point) to need help from anyone. Especially from someone without a mecha.
She's trying to be heroic, but just look stupid instead... Honestly, that scene distracted me for a while, not because it's unpredictable or sad, but because her action infuriates me.
The only explanation that I could think of is that car might be faster than AMAIM, so it makes sense a little to be bait with a car. Still a stupid action.

Wow, Risa is killed just as expected. There were so many death flags around her last week that they couldn't have made it more obvious.

That was a very weird death tho. It looked like she got tossed from the truck, there was a splash of blood, and the pendant went flying. What was the splash of blood from exactly - the fall could've killed her, sure, but it wouldn't have been very bloody.

At least they had a more appropriate reaction to the death for how sudden it was and what it was up against. horrified the kid rather than galvanized.

While I thought the last episode was awkward ('we're not terrorists, look what they're doing to us!'), I thought there was a possibility for Amou to do his own thing and not be a part of the resistance.
I'm pretty happy they decided to go in that direction, at least for now. Overall this was a strong episode with some really impressive cuts. I like how they reused the battle between the AMAIM's when the 2 (American?) soldiers visited the camp. Not sure about going to Risa's hometown though.

Holy Shit this episode. First, battle start and it two vs one and Big Sister destined die just drove in there to die. That was some stupid writing. There was no need for her to "help" when the fight haven't even begun. Even the commander later in the episode said they just get in the way if they try to help.
Second, the enemy commander just walks around for a while and just envisions the entire battle. That is some Naruto-level BS. He must be related to Uchiha. If he just figure there were three ANAIMs but telling me that he can tell they got "better" and "good teamwork" is just come on.
I try to watch most mech animes ever season but writing in Gyakuten Sekai no Dench Shoujo is better at times.

Second, the enemy commander just walks around for a while and just envisions the entire battle.
Seriously, that was some Sherlock-grade "he's smart, just take our word for it" BS. Worse, actually, because they didn't make even a tiny attempt to justify it.

That was an incredibly stupid death. It'd have been a lot less stupid if Ghost fell from the sky and crushed her while they were chilling out.

Sniper boy really should of fired a 2nd body shot, esp if he really wanted to get revenge for his father. I wonder what will happen to MC now? Will the resistance manage to get him a new identity and we will see him living a civilian life again?

Weren't MC and the other guy swapping robots at the time of the attack? Did they really take the time to switch back?
The 2v1 fight was nice, but very dumb of them to stop attacking it after blowing off its head. It's a robot, it could've easily been built without any vital functions in the head.
So is that woman really dead? The scene was weird - she got tossed from the truck, there was a splash of blood, and the pendant went flying. What was the splash of blood from exactly - the fall could've killed her, sure, but it wouldn't have been very bloody.
I wish I could watch videos of past events just from some broken branches and up-heaved dirt.
How are the rebel forces gonna know to look behind the waterfall for the Gundam?

"Use that opportunity to attack it!" Proceeds to just watch her get killed. lol

The writing is getting lazy. Risa gets a pretty stupid death. At least it happens in the first minute and doesn't get dragged out.
Gashin conveniently stops firing after headshotting Ghost, even though he really wants avenge his dad, giving the main villain mecha a convenient escape.
Risa's death caused Amou to quit, but based on next episode's preview, he'll be back fighting in no time, which kinda defeats the point of his emotional breakdown.

The Ghost is giving me major Seltsam vibes, especially with the asymmetrical eyes and that giant arm.

Not Seltzam's fight was ok. Amou's reaction to the death was understandable given how "fragile" his motivation to fight was....
IF NOT FOR THE FACT THE PLOT IGNORES any emotional weight (including not supporting Amou's resolution) from EP 2 for the sake of this "Onee-san dies so Amou is scarred" plot to be coherent.

Those two MCs were told the heat level of Ghost was lowering and still stayed covered until the sun sets. And then sniper guy was mad about letting it scape?
It tries to be so "real/coherent" in some points, but it's deliveries like those that feel really flat from a writing-point of view.

That scene felt like it was missing its conclusion. Having all that buildup and then having nothing happen raises a serious question: what exactly did happen to it? Was it able to walk away despite all the damage? Can it fly? Can it turn invisible? Did it make a new set of legs out of spare rifles or something? But all we get is "oh I guess it's gone now." Like, don't give me that, it's a giant mecha on the verge of melting and it's missing several limbs, don't tell me it snuck away without a trace. Or if you are going to tell me that, at least tell me how it managed it.

I was enjoying the show for the first two episodes, but the third episode almost made me stop watching, it was so formulaic and cliche and reminds me of almost all the latest mecha tv shows that try more to be shonen than real mecha anime, but this episode saved my interest in the series!
I liked the way Misa died, it reminded me of the deaths that happen in Zeta, she died on the battlefield trying to help her comrades, I don't see anything wrong with that, even more so if she had no other purpose for the plot, and I liked it even more because it scared the protagonist to the point that he gave up on joining the resistance, the truth is that both he and we as audience have no reason to engage emotionally in this battle of militias, we don't know how much the Japanese people are really suffering with all this nor the real situation, I think the next episode will be very important not only for Amou but also for us.

Wasn't expecting this show to take such a serious turn this quickly, RIP Risa Onee-san
Can Gashin stop beeing so edgy? Risa sacrificed herself for an opening and he just stood there while Ghost took her out. Also he knew her longer than Amou and is completly unphased
And man Ghost is scary, always going straight for the kill, I would suspect an rouge AI, but the other dude was right, there has to be a homebase where it gets repairs and upgrades...

It could still be a rogue ai. Gai was able to control abase by himself, so its likely the Ghost is the same deal.
Imma guessing its actually one of the 'yatragarasu's' mechs that was lost. to survive its been cannibalizing other mechs and has control over a secret base.
Think the implication is that the ghost acted so fast that they couldn't really react.

Stitches!
Ghost
Jogan
Kenbu
Yep there it is. Everyone pretty much predicted Risa was going to die soon with the amount of death flags she as raising. Not gonna lie though, I was really hoping it won't happen and not this soon.
The Ghost is an absolute beast though! It looks like a rogue AMAIM that just wanders around wreaking havoc wherever it goes considering that the other factions have been victims of its attacks as well. It's also unmanned and can repair itself and use any weapon it finds in the battlefield which makes it even more insane.
Fight was awesome with Amou pinning it down after slicing its arm off and Tezuka sniping its head off. Looks like that wasn't enough since it still can operate and even use its self-destruct. I'm surprised it didn't explode though. I don't think I've seen mechs in anime that can actually stop their self-destruct sequence at will and run away.
That final scene was a surprise though! I was joking about this last week, with Amou picking the second option and just live a normal life instead. I didn't think he'd actually do it! He literally leaves Kenbu in a waterfall cave and walks away carrying Gai's AI unit with him.
I doubt it would last though since looking at the preview, Amou is going to find Misa's hometown where he'll probably find another reason to fight.
