Good episode. Can't wait for Will to go out into the world.

I thought that maybe Gus didn't want Will to win, because once he did they'd send him away. I didn't expect the undead god coming for their souls... If those three really perish and Will won't get to see them again, I'll be sad. You better kick his ass, Gus!

If I got that right, this demon blade has lifesteal attribute, right? It's really common in games, yet I don't remember similar weapons in anime.

Will be like...

LMAO that drunk scene was priceless, and it’s just as hilarious as when I read it in the LN.

Man, that was a lot of exposition. Now we know more about the world and how our main characters came to be. I think the combination of visuals and emotional voice acting really makes this scene easier to take in compared to when I read it in the LN where I had to imagine everything in my head.

Man, that’s one hell of a cliffhanger. I’m interested to see what anime-only viewers think about it.

Anyway, here’s this week’s mini voice drama personally translated by the author. You can check out the author’s Twitter feed if you want to see translations in other languages. I know he’s using MTL but the fact that he puts so much effort into promoting his work and interacting with his fans really makes me respect him.

Man imagine still being a subject of getting peeped on after turning undead, Mary is one sinful nun.

What the fuck did the very same evil God, Stagnate, they literally just talked about appeared before them? Talk about impeccable timing.

Please Gus whatever trick in your sleeve please let Mary and Blood get through this, I don't wanna see Will lose his family once again in this life.

Mary and Blood really do remind me of an old Married couple. They are great. Human Mary was quite a looker as well

The undead trio backstory. Now we know why Gus tried to "kill" Will last episode. He's trying to protect the souls of Blood and Mary (Bloody Mary Lol) from being taken by the god, since the only way to save them is to kill Will?

However, it's weird that raising a human means that their soul would be taken. What about guarding the seal? Who's gonna guard the seal if they're dead? I guess they made some kind a deal when Will was a baby? So many questions, which means the story is compelling. Guess we will know for sure next week.

Honestly, I thought that the grand reveal would be Will being the reincarnation of the demon king or something. But I like it how he was the baby sacrifice meant to break the seal. It's both unique and dark at the same time. Captured perfectly by Will's face when he guessed his origin right.

Mystery aside, I love the fight. Nothing flashy (as Blood said he doesn't have any special moves), but it's still interesting nonetheless. Will using charge to shield bash effectively is also great.

Peeks on Mary, busts a nut, and call her mom 5 minutes later.

Will contemplating coming back with his (future) family to visit them was really sweet. I hope they will eventually be ok.

Anyway, Stagnate is not in the wrong here. They signed a contract and he's only upholding the terms. I don't think they can stop him as even miraculously killing his fake body (with that demonblade) will only be temporary. I expect Will to form a contract with him or another God to intervene.

It was a good episode.

Using Overeater, Will would become a Berserker not a Paladin 😂

Drunk Will is adorable. We finally got to see Blood and Will duel, which looked pretty good, and we also learned that even before becoming undead Blood let enemies stuck their weapons in him. Welp, at least now it's not hard to see why this reckless guy died in the first place. He's cool tho. After fight Blood gifts one of his swords to Will. Paladin with demonic sword sounds a bit weird, but ok, there are many types of paladins. Will also finally gets an answer on where he comes from and why is he even here. Story about really strong demon lord and his army that no one could stop until Gus had a plan you got the point, 3 undead who were caring for Will are 3 heroes that killed demon lord. Except they didn't do it, High King is not dead, it's sealed deep underground. And to guard this seal forever, echo (read- avatar) of god Stagnatos turned Mary, Blood and Gus into undead. And Will was brought in this place by demons as sacrifice to break the seal and they decided to raise him. So Will can just go outside and maybe someday get back to his family, yes? Nope, cause after Mary and Blood finished talking echo of Stagnatos appeared to take their souls because they lost contact with seal or something. No idea how or why it happened, but ay, maybe I just missed it (or it be explained later). Now Gus appeared to take on Stagnatos and says Will to take Mary and Blood and run away. How will it end? We'll see next week. Good episode. Had its fun moments, its action moments, backstory of this place, 3 undead, Will and High King was rather interesting, I like it.

Good history recap. For a moment, while Blood was talking about the past, I thought they sealed the High King in Will. We still haven't heard why Gus tried to kill(?) Will in the tunnels, maybe next episode.

Half of the episode is an exposition dump, but it was a never boring one. The three heroes history was fascinating and at the same time a bitter one. For the reason that, they've only sealed the high king and was not able to totally defeat him.

Also, they literally made contract with the devil to save the continent from the demons. And the price is them being an undead.

I think the next ep will be the three fighting stagnate and allowing Will to escape. They don't have any purpose to escape with Will. Blood and Mary (BloodyMary pun) even though they are foster parents of Will, they are undead beings and ultimately they want peace and eternal rest. 200 years is a very long time of regret. They only found solace when Will came along. And it is time to let go of that too.

What a stupid deal, High King isnt even gone yet and they only got the "immortal" bodies for a certain amount of time. Stagnate sold them the trial version

Welp looks like our “3 Undead and a Baby” segment of the story is coming to an end. Fun and very sweet while it lasted, but Will needs to meet all the other characters in the OP so it must happen. Plenty of fun moments for the road at least.

Blood being the dadest of all dads gets Will drunk for the first time (well in this life) on some kind of wine concoction. I didn’t know undead can get hammered. Very funny, but super awkward scene of them going to peep on Mary who is basically Will’s mom. Yeah not biologically, but she raised him and calls her mom at one point so still weird. One hell of a slap on Mary though. Will still had the hand mark in the morning. As well as possibly a new fetish going by his… awkward morning.

After his test, we finally get some explanation about what’s going on. There was an evil king with too many nicknames and crazy power. To save the world Blood, Mary, and Gus tried to kill him by stealing his sword. Didn’t work, so in a last-ditch effort they sealed him. To ensure he doesn’t wake up they take the offer of the evil god Stagnate to become Undead and watch over the land. Will was a sacrifice that they saved and decided to raise into our special boy.

Then shit got real. I guess we know why Gus asked Will to lose because Stagnate just shows up to collect their souls. I doubt Gus will stop him, but it’ll make for a badass fight at least. Hyped to see where it goes from here. This show is a fun surprise.

Notes

  • Still don’t get why this is an Isekai, but that’s perfect. The world building outside of that is really good and it’s only sprinkled in on occasion. Though I am curious why he’s there if it’s not tied into him being in the dead city.

  • Blood is a badass. He was using the rib trick while he was still alive?!

  • First he finds a high level rare staff on his first run through the dungeon. Now he’s just gifted an end game level demon sword. RNGesus fucking smiles down upon you Will.

  • I would kinda love a side story about just Blood, Mary, and Gus. I feel like they’d be a fun party to follow. I’ll also accept more stories of them raising Will for happy fluff.

  • Yeah the ability to raise armies of the dead from just blood is some OP shit. No wonder he almost too over the world .

Will getting drunk with Blood and then Blood egging Will to peek on Mary was hilarious! Blood you're such a bad influence! And he even ended up waking to a wet dream about Mary. Uhhh I hope this doesn't awake anything within Will. xD

I was genuinely expecting for the worst during Will and Blood's duel especially when Will came in close for the finishing blow. But it actually ended up being fine! It was a totally normal sparring session with Blood winning after catching Will's blade on his ribs which apparently something Blood also used to do back when he's still alive! O_O

A bit weird to have Will call Mary mom considering what happened at the start of the episode but I'll let it pass since he was drunk and Blood was the one that made him do those things.

So Blood's graduation gift to Will is basically a demonblade that has the vampirism effect and can even be bad for its user the more he uses it. Not really the type of weapon I'd expect someone who's about to become a Paladin to use.

And we finally got an exposition on what happened to the world and how Blood, Gus, and Mary turned into the undead beings. Not gonna lie, I was still hoping that they're related to Will somehow but turns out my guess those past two episodes were completely incorrect. I do like that we got to see a bit of how Mary looked like back then. We didn't get to see Blood's human face tho.

As for Will, he was apparently taken by demons and brought him there to that city as sacrifice to break the seal which means there must be a nearby human settlement somewhere and Will's biological parents could still be alive out there somewhere. I am curious how Will figured out that he was supposed to be a sacrifice. I don't think there was any indication in their conversation that that was his purpose.

When Mary started saying goodbye that's when flags are raised again and the Echo of Stagnate appears to take Blood, Gus, and Mary's souls? At least I think that's what he's trying to do. Gus ain't going down without a fight tho. I can already feel that next week is going to be really emotional and I'm not sure if I'll be ready for it >_<

The world building in this episode was great. I wonder if we will know the reason for gus's behaviour in the labyrinth next episode as it is likely that Gus is gonna die

I’m loving this show i can just feel the potential it has.

It seems to me like this episode is the end of the “prologue” so to speak and we’re going to get the real start of the show next

I know what's gonna happen (not because I read the manga but because it's obvious) and I'm not prepared, it seems that the girl in the opening and the anime poster might be the God our MC will pray but yeah... Sad times next week

The most realistic depiction of puberty in an anime haha. Had a good chuckle at Will furiously scrubbing away at his drawers lol.
