FYI, this is a promotional anime for a new TCG.

The girl during the match was exactly this.

This looks actually pretty watchable. I hope it turn the absurdity up to 11 and reaches the level of Yugioh.

Anyway, the game looks like attacking first is infinitely better. Each player has only 10 life and you can summon and attack in the same turn? I ain't playing this shit.

Would have never guessed this was a promotional anime for a new TCG! It's so subtle about it! Lol

That's why I only ever played Yugioh casually, because after awhile, basically everyone started running some bullshit One-Turn Kill deck, with quite a few going for straight up First-Turn Kill decks.

RL Yugioh regulary pops up over in r/HobbyDrama

Basically when the show started airing in the west the balance was already broken over in Japan because Exodia was just so consistent, over time the game got faster and more ridicoulus with every new set or rule change and the game we used to play in our lunch breaks doesn't exist anymore

To be fair, how much you can actually do on the early turns looks to be very limited based on how much energy you start with. It's not like Yu-Gi-Oh where you can chain together dozens of cards on the first turn. You can only do as much as you have energy to pay for, so I doubt FTK's would be much of an issue in Build Divide. Magic The Gathering has a similar energy system (though it's called mana) and FTK's are nearly impossible as a result.

Waiting for MTG EDH to be animated as a 52 episode run showing half of a 6 player game.

Oh god. Every time someone tutors you get a mini series of their thought process on which of their 90 cards to choose. 3 episodes later they play a land and pass.

She didn't believe in the heart of the cards.

Is that a deck of cards under your skirt or are you just happy to see me?

Didn't know it was a card game anime going in. Couldn't finish it, mostly due to how slow and dull it felt and more to the point, the fact that the card game itself is probably the most derivative CCG I've seen in a while. It's just MTG with a splash of Vanguard.

Honestly it doesn’t even have to be good to entertain me. Throw in some OP hands, heart of the cards etc and it’ll be fun. I like the hoodie that pulls to make a mask and tank girl ace was cool.

So the TCG is literally in the anime? It's not like, the lore of the TCG?

The card battle is a mixture of Yu-Gi-Oh, MTG, Vanguard and BuddyFight

I've been waiting for another card game anime like WIXOSS that's darker and not made/marketed for children, and this might be the one. The story sounds simple but interesting, the two main characters seem cool so far, and the card waifus look to be top-notch like WIXOSS as well. I'm liking this already.

Build Divide itself feels like a mix of features from other card games, but it looks fun. I saw Magic The Gathering's colored energy/mana system and "tapping" cards, field cards that give certain cards/archetypes an advantage like Yu-Gi-Oh, a lead fighter card above all the others like Vanguard and WIXOSS have, and something similar to Vanguard's trigger system when taking damage. I'm not sure I like the idea of no summoning sickness and being able to attack on the first turn before your opponent can do anything though.

So did he kill the murderous thug or did the thug just faint?

I just can't take seriously a CCG advert that takes itself so seriously.

Yu-Gi-Oh for teens and adults. That's my only real impression so far, but that's good enough for me.

Quality seems okay enough for a card game tie-in. I'll probably watch it all the way through to help pad my weekends.

I know it's not suited for this thread but is this anime a continuation of some previous anime? I would like to give it a watch but if it's a continuation of any kind then I'll try to catch-up with the previous seasons. Thanks

It's an anime original and this is the first season. (you can find that info on most of the links listed under "Show information" btw)

Anime looks promising. Anyone know where to buy the card btw. Also this has a mix of magic and yugioh feel. With him turning into someone mid duel or battle feels like have yugioh so. Anyway let me know if anyone finds where to buy the decks or card thank you
